Gallstones don't always require surgery, but symptoms often change the conversation.

If you're experiencing symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, or discomfort after eating and imaging confirms gallstones, surgery may be the most effective treatment if you're a good surgical candidate.

The best treatment plan starts with a thorough evaluation and a conversation about your symptoms.

Heartburn once in a while is common. But when reflux becomes frequent, keeps you awake at night, requires regular medication, or begins affecting how you eat and feel each day, it may be more than occasional heartburn.

GERD is a chronic condition in which stomach contents repeatedly flow back into the esophagus, causing ongoing symptoms or complications.

Signs it may be time for an evaluation include:
-Frequent heartburn or regurgitation
-Symptoms that wake you from sleep
-Regular reliance on over-the-counter medication
-Difficulty swallowing
-Persistent cough, hoarseness, or throat irritation
-Symptoms that interfere with meals or daily life

A proper evaluation by your primary care doctor can help. determine the cause and guide the right treatment plan.

The short answer is no.

Unlike an inguinal or abdominal wall hernia, which may cause a visible bulge, a hiatal hernia occurs inside the body, where part of the stomach pushes up through an opening in the diaphragm. Because of its location, it cannot be seen from the outside.

Some people with a hiatal hernia have no symptoms at all, while others may experience:
• Frequent heartburn or acid reflux
• Difficulty swallowing
• Chest discomfort
• Regurgitation of food or liquid

If you're experiencing persistent reflux or other digestive symptoms that aren't improving with treatment, it's important to talk with your healthcare provider. They can determine whether further evaluation is needed and discuss the most appropriate treatment options.

Technology is only as effective as the surgeon using it.

Robotic-assisted surgery is one of the many tools Dr. Muffoletto uses to provide personalized surgical care. Throughout every procedure, the surgeon remains in complete control of the robotic system, using it to perform precise movements through small incisions.

Our goal is always the same: providing safe, effective care tailored to each patient's needs.

One of the most common questions we hear after surgery is, "When should I start walking?"

Frequent and intentional walking is encouraged immediately after surgery because movement plays an important role in the recovery process. Walking can:

âś” Improve circulation
âś” Help with pain management
âś” Support healthy bowel function after anesthesia
âś” Encourage your body as it heals

The key is to start slowly and follow your surgeon's specific post-operative instructions.
