The Alaska State Fair is one of the best parts of an Alaska summer, but between the crowds, noise, and nonstop activity, it's okay to need a break.

That's why Akeela is proud to partner with Sam Garcia and other behavioral health and community organizations to host the Serenity Spot during the Alaska State Fair, August 21–September 7, 2026.

The Serenity Spot is a quiet space where anyone can step away for a few minutes, regroup, and recharge. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed or just need a place to sit and reset, you're always welcome here.

Our team will be at the Serenity Spot on the purple trail throughout the fair to offer support, provide prevention education, and connect with visitors. If you're at the fair, stop by and say hello, we're always happy to see you.

Because sometimes the smallest moments of support can make the biggest difference.

Come test your skills with our putter challenge or "walk the line"—we have plenty of games and fun for everyone.

🚧 WE’RE NOT JUST RENOVATING A BUILDING. WE’RE INVESTING IN RECOVERY.

This week, we officially broke ground on the transformation of Akeela House.

For decades, people have walked through these doors during some of the hardest moments of their lives. They have done incredibly difficult work here. They have found stability, rebuilt relationships, discovered hope, and started again.

And we asked ourselves a simple question:

Does the space where that work happens reflect the quality of care we provide?

The answer was no.

So, we’re changing it.

This groundbreaking represents more than construction. It represents our belief that people seeking treatment deserve spaces built on dignity, safety, respect, and investment.

Akeela House has been part of Alaska’s recovery community for generations. Now we are making sure this building is ready to serve the generations still to come.

On World Humanitarian Day, we recognize those who dedicate their lives to helping others through compassion, service, and care.

We see that spirit every day in our staff, healthcare professionals, peer support specialists, first responders, and community partners who work together to support individuals and families throughout their recovery journeys.

For a long time, Akeela House has been a tool for important work.

Since 1981, this facility has been an integral part of Alaska’s behavioral health and recovery community. People have lived here, received care here, built routines here, and taken real steps toward stability and recovery here.

Akeela, Inc. is proud to publicly announce the Akeela House Jubilee Renovation, a major effort to restore and modernize one of Alaska’s long-standing residential treatment facilities so it can continue serving individuals in recovery with safety and dignity for years to come.

The Akeela House renovation aims to make sure the space lives up to the level of care happening inside it.

A safe, functional, and cared-for environment sends a message to people in recovery. It tells them their work matters. It tells them their care is worth investing in. It tells them the community believes in the life they are working to rebuild.

Thank you to the staff, board members, community partners, contractors, benefactors, and supporters who came together to mark the start of this work.

This project is a commitment to the next generation of recovery care in Alaska.
