Grateful for opportunities like this.

One of the highlights of our visit to Washington, DC was spending time with colleagues and leaders who continue to advance recovery and behavioral health services across the country.

Pictured are Dr. Courtney, Krystal Anderson, Danny Gladden, Karen Carlini, Patricia Clay, Former Congressman Lacy Clay, and fellow advocates through Treatment Communities of America (TCA). These conversations, partnerships, and shared commitment to helping people build lives in recovery are what make this work so meaningful.

As leaders, we often spend a lot of time focused on policy, funding, and operations. But at the heart of it all are relationships—and the people working every day to strengthen communities and create opportunities for recovery.

Thankful for the chance to represent Akeela, Alaska, and the individuals and families we serve at these important national discussions.

We love Alaska summers! But, longer days can make it harder to wind down, even when your body needs rest. Keeping a steady sleep routine matters for mental health, focus, mood, and recovery.

Here are some basic tips for getting to sleep faster:
• Try to keep a consistent bedtime
• Set devices to night-mode and dim screens before bed
• Use blinds and curtains in your bedroom (blackout curtains if possible)
• Avoid caffeine late in the day

Most importantly, give yourself a quiet wind-down routine. Do something consistent every night, your brain will start to learn when it’s time to wind down.

Sleep is part of taking care of your health, especially during seasons when daylight stretches late into the night.

June is Men's Health Month. This is a time to encourage conversations around mental wellness, physical health, and the importance of seeking support when it’s needed.

Too often, men are told to “push through” or “man up” when it comes to stress and emotional struggles. Real strength includes taking care of your health, reaching out for support, checking in with the people around you, and ending the stigma around men’s mental health.

This month, let’s prioritize healthy routines, preventive care, and honest conversations, because your health matters.

Reentry is not just about finishing a sentence... It’s about rebuilding hope. Learning how to thrive again.
And breaking the cycle of recidivism takes more than freedom- it takes empowerment, opportunity, and people who believe transformation is possible.
Grateful for the opportunity to participate in Hiland's resource fair today, along with so many other amazing providers. 💙🧡💚

Caring has the power to change lives.

On World Caring Day, we’re reminded how important it is to show compassion and support to the people around us. Sometimes the smallest moments of care can make the biggest impact.

At Akeela, caring is at the center of everything we do. We’re grateful for the staff, families, community partners, and individuals across Alaska who continue to support healing, growth, and hope every day.
