Dr.Simon Sajan, MD

Why Family Medicine?
My passion for family medicine was established during my medical internship in India, where I was able to provide patient care to a diverse patient population in various clinical settings, which made it quite clear to me that I wanted to practice medicine not just for the quick fix but more holistically and also maintain a broad scope of practice.

Why AKFMR?
I personally believe healthcare is a service that should be accessible to all, and AKFMR truly embodies that vision. I think Alaska Family Medicine brings me closer to my professional goals. The opportunity to live in Alaska and contribute to comprehensive healthcare for the community really excites me and offers a diverse learning experience.

Hobbies:
When not involved in medicine, I keep the foodie in me alive by exploring local food spots and cooking. And I love board games.

A little fun on the medicine service!

On inpatient medicine at our hospital, we see our patients from our continuity clinic that end up admitted to the hospital. It is a resident run service, but of course our amazing attendings are there every step of the way to help guide us. We’re so lucky to be unopposed and have such a great experience and relationship with all our specialists too. Inpatient medicine can be fun! Our new intern class just finished their Community and Ambulatory Medicine or CAM block and are about to hit the hospital! As interns we are lucky enough to get an entire month of orientation and introduction into our program and clinic. It’s a wonderful way to ease into residency and take time to get to know each other as a class.

We are incredibly proud of all that our R3 class has accomplished. Their dedication to providing exceptional care for our patients, unwavering support for one another, and commitment to our program have left a lasting impact. While we will miss them dearly, we are excited to see them begin the next chapter of their careers as independent physicians serving communities across Alaska and throughout the country.
