It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Skye Borgman, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge after a brief battle with cancer. Surrounded by the family who loved her unconditionally, Skye left this world knowing only love, comfort, and peace.

Skye’s life was a remarkable example of resilience, forgiveness, and unconditional love. As a young puppy, she was sold and given away twice before she was a year old. She was eventually abandoned and spent three heartbreaking weeks faithfully waiting on the side of the road for the person she loved to return. Although we will never know everything she endured during those early years, her story changed forever when she was rescued by Friends for Paws.

After arriving at her foster home, it quickly became clear that Skye had already found where she belonged. Her foster family knew they could never let her go, and she became a cherished family member but also an ambassador for animal rescue, helping inspire others to open their hearts to animals in need.

Skye had a gentle soul and a nurturing spirit. She adored every animal that came through her home and became the devoted foster mom to countless abandoned kittens, offering them warmth, comfort, patience, and unconditional love until they found families of their own.

Queenie ("Bean") Bevelhimer was born on June 27, 2012; and passed on May 29, 2026. She is survived by her pet parent, Cassey Bevelhimer; pet sibling, Peppa. She was preceded in death by her kitty sister, Oreo, who passed last year. Other family members are: Grandma Jen, Great Grandma Connie, Aunt Karen, Auntie Claire, Auntie Cierra; and friends: Sky and Christian.

Queenie's favorite toy was her Lamb Chop plushie. Her favorite activities were watching TV with mom, going for walks, playing with Peppa, and getting pup-cups. Her least favorite thing was going to the vet. Her favorite place to sleep was on her favorite quilt, next to mom.

Favorite memories: Going to the beach for the first time, meeting her kitty siblings, opening gifts on Christmas and her birthday, and going on walks at the park. How she is always there for me.

Bandit Alexander ("Bandito") Nichols was born on March 24, 2014; and passed on July 6, 2026. He is survived by his pet parents, Kenny and Katie Nichols; human siblings, Mason and McKenna Nichols; and pet sibling, Chunk Dixon Nichols.

Bandit's favorite toy was any toy his brother had. His favorite activities were taking walks, sleeping on the couch, playing with his brother Chunk, and riding in dad's truck. His favorite place to sleep was on the couch or under Mom and Dad's bed.

Favorite memories: Bandit was just the best dog. He never met a stranger he didn’t like and loved everyone. He always got so excited that his whole butt would shake.

It is our honor and privilege to care for K9 Officer Spike, the Weber family, and the Madison County Sheriff Department. RIP K9 Spike.

The Edgewood Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the Madison County Sheriff Department, Indiana on the loss of K9 Spike.

Spike was an outstanding dog and an incredible asset to Madison County, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of service and courage. Our thoughts and prayers are with Captain Weber, the Weber family, and everyone at the Madison County Sheriff’s Department who had the honor of serving alongside Spike.
