Some people walk into Lil Miracles and instantly feel like family — and this week, that was Maxine and her daughter Deb from Anderson Alliance Church.

Maxine is almost 98, sharp as can be, full of joy, and able to work circles around most people. She is remarkable, inspiring, and truly one of the dearest friends I have. Deb is right beside her — steady, kind, hardworking, and just as much of a blessing.

Together, they helped in ways that made a huge impact: hanging clothes, sorting coats, organizing costumes and books, packing diapers, and tackling countless tasks with joy and purpose. Their energy and willingness to serve reminded us of what community really looks like.

Their church has been just as incredible. The ladies group hosted a rummage sale that raised $2,000 for Lil Miracles — and then collected an additional $500 from their own pockets. That kind of generosity is rare, powerful, and contagious.

Maxine shared one hope with us:

💛 Grateful Beyond Words — Our Volunteers Shine!
This past couple of weeks have been full of quiet miracles at Lil Miracles and Nikki’s Boutique. Our volunteers have worked early mornings and late evenings — sorting, organizing, and caring for families with such love and dedication.

They’ve:
🧥 Brought up winter clothes and packed away summer ones
👗 Hung Halloween costumes and put together new racks
📚 Sorted through books and delivered diapers, clothing, and more to other agencies
🌿 Cared for houseplants, cleaned, and recycled everything possible — even stained clothing finds a new purpose!
👶 Helped families shop in Nikki’s Boutique, creating ready‑to‑go outfits for moms and little ones

And thanks to the Meijer Community Grant, our shelves were filled with toiletry items that parents have absolutely loved! Most of those items are already gone — we’d love to restock with more travel‑size and family‑size essentials. 🧴

Our center is getting busier every week, and we need helping hands who can be here Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10 AM – 2 PM to mentor families, assist in Nikki’s Boutique, and keep hope flowing through every corner of our Center.

To every volunteer who shows up with heart and energy — thank you. You are the heartbeat of Lil Miracles and A Taylor Haven. We appreciate you! 💛
