Ever ended a relationship, promised yourself things would be different next time, and then found yourself in the exact same situation again? πŸ’

You're not broken. You're not "bad at relationships." You're human, and our early experiences shape the way we love more than most of us realize.

In Haley's newest blog post, I dig into why we repeat relationship patterns, where they come from, and, most importantly, how to start changing them. πŸ’›

πŸ’™ Meet Makia!

We are so excited to welcome Makia Krippner to our team as a Student Therapist! Makia is a graduate student at Wichita State University studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is also completing her Certificate in Play Therapy. She has a special passion for working with children and teens, helping them explore who they are and grow into their own individuality, but she's here for all of it: the serious, the silly, and everything in between.

Makia's approach is holistic, person-centered, and trauma-informed. She draws from Internal Family Systems, CBT, and social justice perspectives to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are, no judgment, ever.

✨ She believes therapy isn't about being "fixed." It's about feeling understood, connected, and empowered to grow.

🌿 Sessions with Makia are available at LOW COST TO FREE, because everyone deserves access to support.

Makia is supervised by Megen Watts, LSCSW. Ready to take the next step? Reach out today to schedule with Makia! πŸ’™

Ever looked back on a relationship and thought, "the signs were there, I just didn't know what I was looking at"? 🚩

Red flags don't always look dramatic. Sometimes they look like someone who's a little too charming too soon. Or a partner who apologizes constantly but never actually changes. Or that quiet feeling in your gut that something is off, but you can't quite name it.

Learning to identify red flags isn't about being suspicious of everyone you date. It's about learning to trust yourself, and understanding what healthy love actually feels like.

That's something I love helping people work through in therapy. πŸ’›

Cap. Gown. Diploma. And then... now what?

Graduation is celebrated as one of life's biggest milestones, but for many people, it comes with a wave of unexpected grief. Loss of identity, routine, community, and certainty can hit hard, even when you're "supposed" to feel happy.

Haley's newest blog post talks about exactly this, and why what you're feeling makes complete sense. πŸ’›

If you'd like to work through this season with support, we'd love to connect.

Saying "no" isn't selfish, it's self-care. 🌿
Setting boundaries is one of the most powerful things you can do for your mental health. But let's be honest… it's not always easy. Here's how to start:

πŸ—£οΈ Be direct, not apologetic, You don't need a long explanation. "I'm not able to do that right now" is a complete sentence.

⏸️ Buy yourself time, Instead of saying yes on the spot, try "Let me check and get back to you." It gives you space to decide without pressure.

πŸ’› Start small, Practice with low-stakes situations first. The more you do it, the more natural it feels.

πŸ”„ Expect pushback, and hold firm anyway. People who aren't used to your boundaries may push back. That's normal. Stay calm, stay kind, and stay consistent.

Boundaries aren't walls, they're the guidelines that protect your peace and strengthen your relationships.

If you're struggling to set them, a therapist can help you figure out why and how to change that.

At Andover Family Counseling, we help individuals and families build the tools they need to thrive.

Stress doesn't just live in your head, it shows up in your sleep, your relationships, and your energy. If you've been feeling stretched thin, you're not alone. πŸ’š

Here are two simple strategies to try right now:

🌬️ Box breathing β€” Inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 4, hold for 4. Repeat 3–4 times to calm your nervous system in the moment.

πŸ““ Brain dump journaling β€” Spend 5 minutes writing down every worry or task on your mind. Getting it out of your head and onto paper can reduce anxiety and help you feel more in control.

These tools can help, and a therapist can build a full plan tailored to you.

At Andover Family Counseling, we're here to help you move from surviving your stress to understanding it.

Reach out today to get connected with a therapist.
