A peek within the Practice and where the idea for Beneath the Pines started long before massage therapy ever became my career.

As a child, I spent a lot of time on my parents’ property with 23 acres of mostly wooded land. I would lay in the grass for hours looking up between the pine branches, watching the light move through the trees and listening to the quiet rhythm of the wind.

It was one of the first places I remember feeling completely calm.
Years later, when I began building my own massage practice, I kept coming back to that feeling. I wanted to create a space that allowed people to step out of the noise of everyday life and experience that same sense of calm and reset.

Owning my own practice has also allowed me to design a life that supports the roles that matter most to me ... being present for my children, caring for my clients, and maintaining balance so I can show up fully for both.

Recently I transitioned Beneath the Pines to an all-inclusive model. Sessions are simple and transparent with no expectation of tipping, and membership options help clients maintain consistent care without worrying about hidden costs or complicated pricing.

At the heart of it all, Beneath the Pines is meant to be a place where people feel cared for where the body can slow down, release tension, and return to a more balanced state.

Meet the Therapist Behind Beneath the Pines 🌲

Sometimes the road to your calling takes a few unexpected turns.

Hi, I’m Jenny... but friends call me Jenny May. I am the owner and therapist behind Beneath the Pines Massage Therapy here in Angier, NC. I’m a mom of three and have called this area home for most of my life.

Long before I ever went to massage school, a teacher once told me I would make a great therapist one day. That small comment stuck with me, even as life took me in other directions first.

I spent nearly a decade working in veterinary medicine, raising my family, and navigating some personal health challenges that eventually pushed me to take my own wellness more seriously. Through that journey I lost over 120 pounds, rediscovered my strength, and finally returned to the path I had always felt called toward.

In 2023 I graduated with honors from Gwinnett College’s Massage Therapy program and had the honor of delivering my class’s commencement speech. By June of 2024, Beneath the Pines had grown through word of mouth from in-home sessions into its own physical location.

Today my work focuses on more than just muscles. I approach massage with a whole-body mindset paying attention to fascia, posture, and nervous system balance so the body can release tension and move more freely.

Health, healing, and continued learning are truly my passion ❤️

I’m grateful for every client who trusts me with their care. Many of my clients return regularly to maintain the progress we make together, which keeps my schedule active, but I always love welcoming new faces who are ready to start feeling better in their body.
