** Big and exciting updates from Salt and Light Counseling! **

First, I have officially moved to a new office! You can now find me at:

The move came sooner than expected, but as always, I believe it to be a blessing! I'm excited to welcome both new and returning clients into this beautiful new space.

I also wanted to share that I will be beginning maternity leave at the end of August as our family prepares to welcome our newest little one.

If you're a current client, thank you for your understanding and support as we prepare for these big transitions. We have been working together to ensure you have a plan in place during my leave.

I plan to return to the office in early November, and scheduling for November appointments will open at the end of October. I'll be sharing reminders as that time gets closer!

Thank you for continuing to support Salt and Light Counseling. It is truly a privilege to walk alongside so many individuals and families, and I look forward to continuing that work from the new office after maternity leave.

We are now accepting ideas for our Summer in-person sessions in Angier. If you have a concept for a group—whether it’s for specific parenting challenges, niche anxiety support, or professional burnout—share it with us. Once four people express interest in a topic, we launch the group.

How it works:
You Choose the Topic: Tell us what you need.

Flexible Scheduling: Members decide the time together.

Accessible Care: $60 per session; no insurance required.

As the clouds linger outside the office on this Ash Wednesday, I’m reminded that even in the grayest moments, there’s a chance for reflection and renewal. Today marks the start of Lent; a time to look inward, let go of what weighs us down, and make space for hope to grow. For those that don’t follow Lenten tradition, it’s still an opportunity to step back and take a look over how your new year is going. Is there anything that needs refreshing? What is creating heaviness for you?

It is C O L D!

Cold weather often encourages us to stay indoors, yet research consistently shows that spending time outside supports mental health, even during winter months. Exposure to natural light helps regulate circadian rhythms and can improve mood, energy, and sleep. Time outdoors has also been linked to reduced stress levels and improved emotional regulation.

Gentle movement outside, such as walking, increases blood flow and supports the release of endorphins, which are associated with improved mood and decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression. Even short, consistent periods outdoors can have meaningful mental health benefits.

While these practices are supportive, they are not a substitute for deeper emotional care. Therapy provides space to explore patterns, process stress, and develop tools that strengthen resilience through every season.
