A New Generation of Caring:

Dear Caring Acres Family,

This letter brings great joy, but also great sadness to me. I am writing to let you know that effective Nov. 1 2022 Caring Acres Nursing & Rehab Center Anita, IA was sold to Recover-Care and Managed by Mark Hasting, Anew Healthcare.

This has been a very difficult decision for Jeremy and I, however we believe that a larger company can bring more resources, expertise, and guidance to everyone in the ever-changing environment of long-term care. Anew Healthcare is also committed to keeping all existing staff, vendors, and resources in place which was important to Jeremy and I.

A little information about Mark. Mark is the sole owner and operator of Anew Healthcare, based out of Blue Springs, MO. He started his company as a Durable Medical Equipment Provider out of his garage and developed his company from there. Mark is the current owner of 7 facilities in Missouri and Kansas and brings a wealth of knowledge and energy to the long care term industry including his innovative thinking, the use of housekeeping robots, the utilization of companion robots to check on residents with dementia that utilizes many different historical details about their lives and family in hopes of retaining special people or events, and adding strategic partnerships to be efficient and improve resident care. When we met with Mark we got a great feeling that he carries the same values we hold for each of our staff - hardworking, caring, and strives to do what’s best for our residents. Mark brings together multiply experts in our field from Corporate Nurses, Managers, MDS Experts, Technical support, and others. In addition to his organization he has an amazing support system from the team at Recover Care which is a nationwide organization.

As for me and Jeremy, we are excited to see what the future brings for both of us. Jeremy started working for the State of Iowa – Department of Administrative Services, Procurement Office which is currently focused on dispensing much needed PPE thru out the state. As for me, I am very excited to say that I have become part of the American Red Cross and will serve in deployments to grief-stricken areas across the nation from Puerto Rico, Florida, Alaska, etc as part of their DAT (Disaster Action Team) and as a DHS (Disaster Health Service) member.

With 42 years in the healthcare industry I want to again thank you all for making the last 10 years of long term care the best of my career. I will continue to hold each of you close to my heart and pray for continued success of Caring Acres.

Sincerely,
Kris Lange

BIG SHOUT OUT to the residents & staff of Caring Acres Nursing & Rehab Center! In the last 2 days our team has completed two major vaccine clinics for the new Covid-19 Bivalent booster & our annual Influenza Vaccine clinic. We are so proud of our team for continuing to step up in protecting our communities. After the completion of our last clinic yesterday we have an average of 96% participation amongst our residents and scheduled staff. We also continue to maintain a 100% participation for the Covid-19 primary series!

Caring Acres is excited to announce that after 2 1/2 years the CDC & CMS regulatory bodies have provided an update to the relaxation of many Covid-19 related protocols and updates so things will start looking a little different around Caring Acres and look more like it use to. These changes include who is and isn't required to wear masks and testing. Below will outline some of those changes. Please keep in mind being 'Up To Date' means you have completed a primary series of the Covid-19 vaccine & have received your Bivalent Covid-19 vaccine booster.

Our team is happy to answer any questions you have which can be directed to [email protected]. We also take this opportunity to remind everyone that Caring Acres is a vaccine provider with the state so if you would like to get your Bivalent Covid-19 Vaccine Booster that can be arranged through [email protected].

STAFF MASKING: Staff members 'Up To Date' with all eligible Covid19 vaccines can now choose to remove their mask when working with residents if they choose. We have some staff that are up to date that still wish to wear their masks which is completely ok. The discretion is up to the employee that is 'Up To Date' on deciding if they want to wear a mask. Any staff member NOT 'Up To Date' with their Covid19 vaccine and related booster will still be required to wear a mask when in the building.

VISITOR MASKING: REQUIRED unless your vaccine card has been registered and confirmed with the Administration office and you are 'Up To Date' meaning you have completed your primary vaccine series and received your Bivalent vaccine booster (> 2 months after completion of primary).

CONTRACTOR MASKING: REQUIRED regardless of vaccine status. Due to the inherent risks associated with infection control with contractors working in other buildings masking of contractors will still be required if the contractor that that is 'up to date' is working in a building with any active cases of Covid-19. All contractors are still required to provide your vaccine card to the administrators office and keep the administrator's office updated on any changes.

FACILITY VISITOR SCREENING: REQUIRED - screening is still required for all staff, visitors, and contractors when coming into Caring Acres Nursing & Rehab Center. The front entrance is equipped with a doorbell on the right hand side which will alert our staff you are needing screened in. Screening will continue to include any signs & symptoms of covid19, temperature checks, any recent exposures and if you have tested positive during the look back period.

Staff Testing: All staff NOT 'Up To Date' will continue to be tested according to the rules & regulations as connected to county positivity levels weekly. Any staff that are 'Up To Date' are exempt from weekly testing guidelines unless you display signs & symptoms of Covid-19 in which case testing would be required.

Resident Testing: Any residents displaying signs & symptoms of Covid-19 will continue to be tested. Any newly admitted residents coming from a hospital or another nursing home will be required to be tested from the Hospital or their current nursing home on the day of their discharge and follow up testing as required.

Any questions regarding these changes in policy or anything else can be directed to [email protected]
