We don't take this for granted. Being voted Ankeny's best in optometry through CommunityVotes means the world to us, because it comes straight from you, the people we get to take care of every day.

Every exam, every pair of glasses, every "I can finally see the leaves on the trees again" moment is the reason we do this. Thank you for trusting us with your eyes and for telling your neighbors about us.

Ever had a stye that just won't go away? Those stubborn bumps on the eyelid (called chalazions) happen when an oil gland gets blocked, and they can hang around for weeks even with warm compresses. Traditionally, the next step has been a procedure to have them cut out.

We're excited to offer a non-invasive alternative: OptiLight IPL. This light-based treatment help chalazion resolve without a needle or incision.

The other day, a patient grabbed a handful of business cards from the front desk on his way out. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to realize what he was doing.

Referrals are the highest compliment we receive, and we don't take that lightly. When you send a friend or family member our way, you're putting your name behind us and we want to make sure we always make you look good for doing that.

Had the chance to take the Oakley Meta Smart Glasses and Altius Performance Contact Lenses for a spin while I was in Arizona — hiking and golfing. Pretty good testing grounds.

The glasses capture hands-free video so you're never fumbling for your phone, and the Altius lenses are designed specifically for helping with light sensitivity on active days outside. Both held up.

What surprised a lot of people when I was on the course was that you can actually get smart glasses at your eye doctor. We carry both at Prairie View Eyecare if you want to check them out.
