🚫 PT Myth: MRIs and X-rays always tell the full story about your pain.

❌ BUSTED. Pain is complex, and imaging findings don’t always match your symptoms.

Many people have findings on imaging without any pain at all, while others may have significant pain with very little showing up on an MRI or X-ray. That’s why physical therapists look at the whole picture, including movement, strength, mobility, lifestyle, and your personal goals. 💪

Your pain experience is real, and recovery is about more than just what shows up on a scan.

🚫 PT Myth: Physical therapy is just doing exercises in the clinic.

❌ BUSTED. PT is a comprehensive approach tailored to you!

Treatment can include hands-on manual therapy, mobility work, strength training, balance training, education, movement analysis, pain management strategies, and individualized exercises designed to help you get back to doing what you love 💪

Exercise is important, but it’s only one piece of the puzzle. Recovery is about treating the whole person, not just handing out exercises.

Don’t let this myth limit what physical therapy can do for you. Let’s move and recover smarter, together.

Why we prescribe this: single-leg box jump → controlled two-foot landing 👣

This drill isn’t about how high you jump, it’s about how you land and absorb force.

By taking off from one leg and landing evenly on both, we’re training the body to:
• Re-establish symmetrical load sharing between limbs
• Improve neuromuscular control after knee injury/surgery
• Reinforce proper shock absorption strategies

Key muscles working hard:
• Quadriceps (eccentric control during landing)
• Glutes (hip stability + force distribution)
• Hamstrings (knee protection + deceleration support)
• Calf complex (ankle stability and force absorption)

For post–knee surgery patients, this is a bridge back to real-world movement and helping the brain and body relearn how to trust and use both legs equally again, especially under impact.

Because the goal isn’t just strength… it’s control under load. 💪

This curtsy step-up challenges lower body strength, balance, and control through multiple planes of movement 💪

The curtsy motion helps target the glutes, especially the glute medius, while also engaging the quads, hamstrings, hip stabilizers, and core for improved single-leg stability and coordination. Adding the step-up component increases functional strength and balance demands.

Exercises like this can help improve lower extremity control, dynamic stability, and movement mechanics for everyday activities and higher level athletic movements. 👏

🚫 PT Myth: You have to stop all activities while recovering from an injury.

❌ BUSTED. In many cases, staying active is actually part of the healing process!
Our goal isn’t to bench you, it’s to get you back to doing what you love. 💪 With the right guidance, modified activity can speed up recovery and keep you moving forward.

Don’t let this myth hold you back. Let’s recover smarter, together.

Is physical therapy only for after surgery?

Not at all! 💪

Physical therapy can help before surgery (prehab), after surgery, during injury recovery, and even with preventing injuries or future problems in some cases.

PT focuses on improving strength, mobility, balance, movement patterns, pain, and overall function to help you move and feel your best at every stage.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, preparing for a procedure, or simply wanting to stay active and healthy, physical therapy is designed to meet you where you are.

Not all rehab tools look like exercise equipment 👀✨

Our clinic uses LightForce laser therapy as part of a comprehensive physical therapy treatment approach to help support recovery, manage pain, and promote tissue healing. 💪

Laser therapy can be beneficial for a variety of conditions including muscle strains, tendon irritation, joint pain, post-operative recovery, and inflammation. The treatment is non-invasive, quick, and often used alongside hands-on therapy, strengthening, mobility work, and individualized exercise programs.

At our clinic, recovery is never a one-size-fits-all approach. We combine different tools and treatments to help patients move better, feel better, and get back to doing the activities they love.

Curious if laser therapy could be part of your rehab journey? Ask us at your next visit! ✨

🚨 PT Myth #1: You need a doctor’s referral to see a physical therapist.

❌ BUSTED. Iowa is a Direct Access state, meaning you can schedule PT without a referral. Skip the extra appointment and come straight to us.

Here’s what Bucky learned in the clinic this week 🐶
⚡ Electrical stimulation isn’t scary… but the cords do look suspiciously like chew toys.
☀️ Sunlight during your exercise session = bonus healing powers (according to Bucky).
👐 Manual therapy takes focus, precision… and apparently resisting the urge to steal the cocoa butter🐕
Make an appointment and come see what Bucky is up to in the clinic next week 👀🐾
