Written by Bobby Goodman, I really liked his take and insight into what it looks like when you are growing into the next level of yourself!

We spend a lot of time talking about getting to the next level. The next level in business. The next level financially. The next level in our careers, relationships, leadership, and lives. We set bigger goals.

This writing is something I wrote on for a previous blog post. Turning it into an article that can be shared with more people in partnership with Brainz has challenged me to keep expanding some of my perspectives as a therapist. I don’t tend to work at just the surface level with my clients, esp. on just “skills,” and hopefully this article clarifies why I do that. Enjoy a deeper perspective on communication 💫

Communication is about far more than choosing the right words or mastering the right techniques, because the person behind the message shapes how it is truly received. By exploring presence, emotional...

What an honor to receive this award! This award honors top entrepreneurs, companies and thought leaders who are true game changers in their fields. It also recognizes inspirational leaders who overcome challenges, advocated for environmental sustainability and promoted mental health projects.

I’m so grateful for the community and clients that I have the privilege of working with and learning from. My ability to expand and bring new ways of doing things in the therapy and mental health field would not be possible without the clients and colleagues who are open to new ways of doing things. Thank you for being on this journey with me ☺️.

Stepping into our full self can be painful because sometimes we don’t anticipate the responses that come from our surrounding relationships and society. Despite the initial pain we might sometimes face, it is still worth it to boldly step into our authentic selves! Sharing this truth to validate those currently doing this now ❤️💫

Love this! As I move my equine therapy services to a new barn, I will begin offering nature based therapy services for those who don’t want to do the horses but want the benefits of nature!

Instead of sitting in an office, you can sit outside for your session. Listen to the birds, see all the wildlife. Hear the wind rustling in the trees, feel the sunlight on your body. Hello nervous system regulation and reset!

Or you can walk with me! Walking is nature’s original EMDR. We’re on a 20 acre property with beautiful trails. Walking also is movement and a good nervous system reset.

I will begin transitioning my services to a couple days a week out at the barn and still keeping a few days in my office location in Ankeny.

If you’re wanting therapy out in nature vs. an office setting, I’m excited to make this a reality for those wanting an environment that truly holds the ultimate capacity for helping us come back home to our true selves and nature 🌿🌳🌤️🌺

Per Dr. Cole, with this exact post:

“Birdsong isn’t just beautiful background noise — it’s one of nature’s most powerful nervous system regulators.

When birds sing, they’re broadcasting safety. Their songs (vibrating at 1,000–8,000 Hz) guide your brain into alpha waves, the same relaxed-yet-alert state of meditation. In minutes, cortisol drops, anxiety eases, and your body receives the cellular message: you are safe.

Next time you hear them, pause. Close your eyes. Let the frequencies do what nothing else quite can in this unique way. “
