Did you know that yesterday was National Pink Lemonade Day? We did! On Sunday, some of the residents made Pink Lemonade Pies to serve at our Happy Hour yesterday, along with fresh pink lemonade, of course. The pies were delicious and everyone agreed that it is one of our new top-tier favorite pies.

Our next resident spotlight is Carol in our Life Guidance neighborhood. Carol has been a Detroit Tigers fan for over 50 years. Her favorite memory of Tigers baseball is when they won the 1984 World Series vs the San Diego Padres and her favorite all time player is Rocky Colavito. She rarely misses watching a Tigers game. She can almost always be found proudly wearing the Tigers navy blue and orange! Go Tigers!!

Today, we participated in an Adapted Slip-N-Slide! Our awesome Physical Therapist from Living Rehab, Jeanette, helped us to make this dream of a resident become a reality for many. We had a great time outside in the heat while getting misted by our magical unicorn. We hope you had a great summer!

We celebrated Atria's 30th Anniversary today!

In honor of Atria turning 30 today, we hosted a Pearls and Prosecco party for the pearl anniversary. We reviewed 30 years of connection, community and belonging. We enjoyed sparkling refreshments, sweet treats, wonderful harp music, and pearls of wisdom that we will be displaying through September on the first floor. As you visit our community, feel free to add a pearl of wisdom you have!

We are so honored to have a community so rich in love and care, and we thank each of you for being a part of it! Happy 30th Anniversary, Atria!

We indulged in our Carnival Social Series magic yesterday! We had a dunk tank that McKenna, our Executive Director, willingly volunteered for, had corn dogs, popcorn, kettle corn from our culinary team and ice cream treats from the Nostalgic Ice Cream Truck, and hosted awesome middle school students from Trinity Church who ran our various carnival game booths. The students tried to get to know as many residents as possible and had great conversations with the residents. We had a wonderful day of carnival fun!

We’re so grateful for our incredible employees! This month, we came together to celebrate Atria Rewards, a program that recognizes employee tenure, excellent customer service and Quality Enhancement achievements. Our employees are the people who make Atria Park of Ann Arbor a true home for residents.
During the Atria Rewards Party, staff were given trivia about some of the benefits they receive while working at Atria, the various protocols of the building, and trivia about working here to keep everyone up-to-date. We have found that our competitive staff often enjoy trivia, so we handed out raffle tickets for answers they got right, then raffled off some awesome prizes! We gave away things like a large TV, a projector and screen, and many many baskets. Thank you to all of our health care partners who sponsored baskets for our amazing staff, and thank you to all of our wonderful staff for doing all they do to keep our building such a great place for our residents to live. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

This afternoon, we hosted some of our Resident Authors for a nice chat about what it's like to be an author! They told us about the process of writing their books, where their inspiration came from, the help they received, and their road to success. It was great to hear from them about such a prominent part of their lives.

Each of our residents brings something unique to our community!

Did you know that one of our Life Guidance residents, Joe, is a squirrel expert? This week, he surprised us with his fun "Michigan Squirrels" shirt and we asked for his story, which goes like this: When he was living in Philadelphia, he found that feeding squirrels became one of his favorite pasttimes. When he moved to Ann Arbor, he discovered other fellow squirrel enthusiasts who would feed the squirrels near "The Diag" on Michigan's campus. He still loves to watch squirrels and enjoys receiving squirrel-related items, like cards and pictures. However, he seems to be most proud of his Michigan Squirrels shirt. Next time you see Joe, make sure to ask him about his fasination of squirrels!

What sounds better than Boston Coolers on the porch? What about Boston Coolers on the porch and a dance party? Our Life Guidance residents are often found dancing around the community, but when there is ice cream involved, everyone dances! They danced to classics like, "The Twist," "The Bunny Hop," "The Hokey Pokey," and "The Chicken Dance." If you ever need a good dancing partner, you'll find plenty of candidates with our memory care residents. ☺️
