PHSAD is a graduate student organization at the School of Public Health committed to creating and fostering a sense of community

PHSAD is the oldest student organization at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. PHSAD strives to create an atmosphere wherein academic and professional excellence can coincide with the interests of populations of African descent. We strive to disseminate and exchange information regarding the concerns of marginalized groups in the field of Public Health and to serve as a network and support system for educational and professional purposes. The prompt of the case is centered around addressing the impacts of climate change in food in(security) 🍴

Join Public Health Students of African Descent (PHSAD) for our 39th Annual Health Equity Conference on March 28th from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the Henry F. Vaughn School of Public Health Building I. This year’s theme, Healing Environments, Healthy Futures, explores environmental justice and community driven approaches to building healthier, more resilient communities. Next Wednesday, February 25 at 6 pm, join PHSAD and HBHESA in SPH I Room 1655 for a screening of The Cost of Inheritance, a documentary that explores key issues of diversity and democracy by bringing real people and their family histories into the reparations debate.

Jamaican Jerk Pit will be served in a pay what you can donation style, with proceeds supporting Birth Detroit, a Black led, midwifery centered birth center.

We hope to see you there as we continue honoring Black lived experiences during Black History Month. 🖤✊🏽🎥

🤎🖤 Kick off Black History Month with PHSAD at next week’s Family Meeting! We will be testing our knowledge with a Black history and culture Jeopardy, playing games, enjoying dinner, and connecting as a community as we start the month off.
