Nora F. (Davis) Lawrence

Serving Location:
CRAIN FUNERAL HOME – CAPE GIRARDEAU
829 North West End Boulevard, Cape Girardeau, Missouri

Nora F. (Davis) Lawrence, 92, of Cape Girardeau, surrounded by family, left her temporary earthly home at Hubble Creek Nursing Home in Jackson on Friday, July 17, 2026, for the heavenly home she has long awaited, in the presence of her savior, Jesus Christ.

Nora was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on June 6, 1934, and graduated from Ferguson High School, then attended two years at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar before entering Missouri Baptist Hospital nursing program in St. Louis, earning her degree as a registered nurse. She served as director of nursing at Frio County Hospital in Pearsall, Texas and Lytle Nursing Home in Lytle, Texas, then worked her last two professional decades at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Obstetrics.

With extensive family of Davis, Craft, and more in the Pocahontas, Neely’s Landing, Crosstown and surrounding areas, Nora returned to Cape Girardeau in 1975.

Known lifelong as a nurse, Nora enjoyed caring for people however she could, even to her final years. A faithful member of Cape Bible Chapel, Nora was a woman of deep faith in her lord and savior, Jesus Christ, and shared his love with many others.

Nora also spent time working in her yard, riding horses as a member of the Jackson Trailriders, playing and teaching tennis, reading, and riding motorcycles—she owned five of them over the years. She was a longstanding member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Family surviving Nora include her daughters Valarie Lawrence (David Blakemore dec) and Pam (Norm) Greene; granddaughters Dixie (Clay) Obergoenner, DanaClaire Discher, and Adare (Daniel) Wolfe, plus great-grandchildren Atley, Tinlee, and C**t Obergoenner and Valiant Wolfe; brothers Richard (Jenny dec) Davis, Ed Davis, and Gene (Sue) Davis, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Nora is preceded in death by her parents Ivan and Fern (Craft) Davis and sister Evelyn (Don dec) Elves.
