Hi friends!!

Myself, Dr. Ana Rodriguez and Emily Cook Maciejewski are running a 12 week post partum support group starting on Feb 14th.

Each week we will cover a different topic and have time for questions and connections 🥰

Topics will include:

✅Mood support
✅Postpartum Nutrition
✅Sleep Support
✅Postpartum Fitness
✅Stress Reduction
✅Homeopathic Remedies for Mom and Baby
✅Pelvic Floor Health
✅What to ask your doctor to check on your labs
✅Mindset and Mindfulness practices
✅Breathwork Practices (with our dear friend and breathwork guru Trish DiPietri Brewer)
And more!!

The group meets in person every Wednesday from 10-11 am and babies are welcome!!

We will also have a virtual option 😉

I so wish I had something like this after I had my girls. The post partum time can be lonely and sometimes scary as a new (or even as a seasoned) mom! Arming yourself with knowledge on how to support yourself in combination with connecting with other moms is a GAME CHANGER for this season of life!!

Message me if you have questions and you can call 443-758-6778 to register!!

Just a little reminder about all of the things that can trigger your body's stress response. Sometimes we don't even realize that certain things are actually causing us stress!

The first step is always to take inventory of what stressors are playing into your life!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The next step is working on the ones you CAN change 😉

Hypothyroidism is one of the most common conditions I treat. And many times women have been told that their thyroid is “normal” because their TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) falls within the standard reference range. I often find that many of my patients DO HAVE A THYROID ISSUE when we dig a little deeper and do more in depth testing. You can have what I like to call subclinical hypothyroidism or an underfunctioning thyroid. If you have 3 or more of the following symptoms- make sure you are seeing a doctor who is doing a FULL thyroid workup.!!

Common Signs Of Low Thyroid Function

❗️Difficulty Getting Pregnant
❗️Feeling better after exercise
❗️Depression
❗️Joint Pain
❗️Low Body Temperature
❗️Brain Fog
❗️Fatigue
❗️Constipation
❗️Hair loss
❗️Change in skin texture
❗️Weight gain
❗️Irregular Periods

And remember that a full thyroid work up includes:

✅TSH
✅Free T3
✅Free T4
✅Reverse T3
✅T3 Uptake
✅Thyroid Antibodies

A common conversation I’m having these days with my patients is about this concept of feeling some gratitude for our bodies as they have carried us through the past (almost) 2 years since March of 2020.

Sometimes after our bodies have gotten us through an intensely stressful time they will start to show some signs of wear and tear in the form of symptoms.

These symptoms could be things like fatigue, headaches, hair loss, weight gain, heartburn, aches and pains etc.

While it’s always a good idea to get any persistent symptom checked out by a doctor, it’s also important to remember that your body may just be asking you to pay it a little more attention.

Give it the nourishment it needs and the rest it craves- care for your body like you would care for a loved one!!

Adrenal Fatigue or Adrenal Burnout can present in a lot of ways and often times this depends on which phase you are in!

⚡️The first phase, I like to call the “Wired for Sound” phase. This is when all cylinders are firing and the body is making tons of cortisol and tons of adrenaline. You typically feel like you are handling everything that life is throwing you, despite the fact that you don’t get enough sleep or take care of yourself. This is when you are a supernova diva!!! But if you don’t make any changes you are soon to burn out 🥺

⚡️Phase 2 and Phase 3 are the “Wired but Tired” phases. In both of these phases you feel exhausted but you still have trouble sleeping or you suddenly begin to feel anxious and can’t seem to figure out how to calm yourself down. Most people that I treat are in one of these 2 phases.

⚡️Phase 2 typically shows up with lots of allergic symptoms and or constantly getting sick. I call this the allergic and infected phase. This is usually because the cortisol levels are still relatively high, but certain neurotransmitters are low and this causes the immune system to go a little haywire.

⚡️Phase 3 shows up with pain and inflammation. This is when cortisol stores are starting to tank and the body makes up for it with lots of adrenaline. Joint pain, inflammatory conditions, acne and hormonal dysfunction often occur in this phase!

⚡️Phase 4 is the phase where you are just plain tired. The body is so depleted that it cannot make cortisol or adrenaline and when you hit this stage you literally cannot get out of bed and all systems in the body are struggling.

If any of these sound like you, talk to your practitioner of choice about how to start supporting your adrenals!

You can also grab a copy of my free Adrenal Fatigue Handbook to get some tips to get started!!

You’ve probably heard me say this before, that healing is not always linear. It is totally normal when you embark on a healing journey to have a few days where you feel better - even amazing- and then have a day or two where you feel worse than you did originally.

Remember that it takes time to heal and to give your treatment protocol or the dietary or lifestyle changes you have chosen to embark on enough time to see the results you are looking for!

Chronic headaches can be a REAL PAIN!! And it’s often hard to figure out exactly how best to treat them. Just like with anything else, figuring out what the root cause of them is the key to figuring out the best treatment protocol

❗️Hormonal Imbalance
❗️EBV Reactivation
❗️Lyme Disease
❗️Mold Exposure
❗️Food Sensitivities
❗️Leaky Gut
❗️Thyroid Issues
❗️Adrenal Issues
❗️Environmental Allergies
❗️Physical Trauma
❗️Emotional Trauma
❗️Chronic Stress

Most chronic headaches tend to have several underlying issues going on at the same time which is why it is even more important to check for all of these causes!!
