✨We said YES to the ADDRESS! WE ARE MOVING! ✨

Dreams are coming true at Brooks Counseling!

Beginning AUGUST 10, 2026, we will be located at
🏠 401 Quintard Ave, Anniston, AL 36201
(beside Nationwide, across the road from Downey Medical)

Ever since my graduate internship at an old American foursquare, I have dreamed of practicing in a cozy house. Last week, we purchased this beautiful Victorian that is full of history and character. We can not wait to show you the inside! Goosebumps at all the original craftsmanship! (lookout for before and after photos as we get things ready for the big move!)
Once we are all set up, we will welcome all who wants to come see and learn about the Old Ledbetter House ❤️

I am so thankful for my wonderful husband and family who believes in me and what we do at Brooks Counseling. I'm also thankful beyond words for this awesome team that I get to work beside everyday. Praise be to God!

With Medicaid changes taking effect beginning October 1, 2026, many Alabama families have questions about what H.R. 1 means and whether it could affect their coverage or services.

Instead of trying to summarize everything here on social media, Dr. Garrett wrote a clear, practical guide that explains:
• What is changing
• Who may be affected
• Key dates to know
• Steps families can consider now

Our goal is not to create fear, but to provide information so families can make informed decisions. Read the full article at https://garrettcounseling.com/medicaid-changes-are-coming-what-alabama-families-need-to-know-about-h-r-1-before-october-1-2026/

We spend so much of our lives trying not to break.

We push through stress. We tell ourselves we're "fine." We keep showing up for everyone else, hoping that if we just hold on a little longer, things will get easier.

But sometimes life has a way of breaking us anyway.

Maybe it was something that happened all at once. Maybe it was years of carrying things that became too heavy. Maybe it was loss, disappointment, anxiety, burnout, or simply trying to survive for so long that you forgot what it felt like to truly live.

If you've ever felt broken, you're not alone.

The beautiful thing about healing is that it isn't about putting every piece back exactly where it used to be. Healing changes us. We learn healthier boundaries. We find our voice. We discover strengths we didn't know we had. We become more compassionate with ourselves. We stop settling for just getting by.

You may never be the exact person you were before. And that's okay.

Sometimes the goal isn't to go back. Sometimes the goal is to rebuild into someone stronger, wiser, and more resilient than you ever imagined.

The strongest people aren't the ones who never break. They're the ones who rebuild.

No matter where you are today, remember this: rebuilding doesn't have to happen all at once. Every small step you take toward healing matters.

And if you need someone to walk alongside you while you rebuild, we're here.

Did you know we offer dyslexia screenings at Tutor Tots?

One of the things I’ve learned over the years is that most parents already know when something isn’t quite right.

They see their child struggling to read. They notice homework ending in tears. They watch their confidence begin to fade.

What they don’t always know is why it’s happening or what kind of support their child needs.

That’s where we come in.

A dyslexia screening helps us take a closer look at your child’s reading skills and identify whether the characteristics they’re showing may be consistent with dyslexia. From there, we can help you understand what those results mean and recommend the support that’s the best fit for your child.

That may be dyslexia therapy. It may be individualized reading intervention. Or it may simply provide peace of mind and a clearer direction moving forward.

Every child learns differently, and every child deserves support that meets them where they are.

If you’ve been wondering whether your child’s reading struggles are more than “just falling behind,” we’d love to help.
