During National Critical Care Awareness and Recognition Month, we’re recognizing the ICU teams across Sutter Health who provide lifesaving care during patients’ most vulnerable moments. 💙

From trauma and respiratory failure to infection and organ failure, critical care demands extraordinary coordination, clinical expertise and compassion. Through early recognition and rapid treatment, Sutter clinicians helped save 772 lives in the past year among patients with septic shock—the most severe form of sepsis.

In 2026, multiple Sutter hospitals were also recognized by Healthgrades for superior outcomes in critical care and sepsis treatment.

Then, while working as a physical therapist at Sutter Delta Medical Center, she learned about a study testing a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device.

After enrolling, Sharon began using a CGM and discovered how her favorite foods, like white rice and chips, impacted her blood sugar. With real-time feedback, she recognized patterns and made healthier swaps like quinoa and barley. Today, she feels more energized and empowered.

When Chuck and Jan Benner flew to Cabo San Lucas to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, they never imagined they’d be facing a life-threatening emergency. 💔

After suffering a heart attack abroad, Chuck was flown home to the Bay Area where Dr. Vipul Gupta and the cardiac team at Sutter Delta Medical Center provided expert care that saved his life.

Chuck and Jan credit Dr. Gupta as well as the Sutter Delta and Sutter East Bay Medical Group care teams with giving Chuck a second chance and helping him stay healthy today.

🎉Exciting news! 🎉 Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch, Calif., is the first hospital in East Contra Costa County to implement the state-of-the-art robotic surgical system, the Intuitive da Vinci 5, revolutionizing advanced surgical care and improving access for patients who previously had to travel an hour or more for certain surgical procedures.

At a recent ribbon cutting, Sutter Delta CEO Trevor Brand and Antioch Mayor Ron Bernal joined leaders and care teams to celebrate.
