OK, so it's not just us that hears "Sub Q" and not "So cute"...right? 😂

Subcutaneous fluids ("sub q fluids") are a great way to help pets stay hydrated without the need for an IV. We commonly use them for dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea, poor appetite, kidney disease, and other conditions that cause fluid loss.

And yes—that little "camel hump" on the back is completely normal! đŸȘ

The fluids are delivered into the space under the skin and are gradually absorbed by the body over the next several hours.

So if your pet comes home looking a little lumpy after receiving fluids, don't worry—that bump is just hydration on board. 😊

After a fight with a sibling, this dog came in with one incisor sticking out at an unusual angle. From the outside, it looked like a single injured tooth.

But dental x-rays told a completely different story.

Not only was that tooth fractured below the gumline, but the teeth on either side were also broken. Without x-rays, those injuries could have easily been missed.

In the end, Dr. Cindy extracted all three damaged teeth and helped prevent what could have become a painful long-term problem.

This is why dental x-rays are so important. They allow us to see what's happening beneath the surface and make the best decisions for our patients.

And if your dog is involved in a fight—even if they seem okay afterward—please have them evaluated by a veterinarian. Some injuries aren't visible until we take a closer look.

đŸ± June is Adopt A Cat Month! đŸ±

Every year, thousands of cats and kittens enter shelters and rescue organizations hoping for a second chance. While they may come from different backgrounds, they all have one thing in common—they deserve a safe, loving home.

When you adopt, you're not just gaining a pet. You're giving a cat the opportunity to feel safe, loved, and part of a family. In return, you'll gain a loyal companion, countless memories, and a bond that can last a lifetime.

This month, we encourage you to consider opening your heart and home to a cat in need. Whether you're looking for a playful kitten, a laid-back adult cat, or a wise senior companion, there's a cat out there waiting for someone just like you.

We are proud to support the amazing rescue organizations in our community that work tirelessly to help cats find the loving homes they deserve.

Have you adopted a cat? Share a photo and tell us their adoption story in the comments!

When people think about their pet's health, they often think about vaccines, nutrition, and exercise. But dental health is just as important.

Dental disease doesn't just cause bad breath—it can lead to pain, tooth loss, and even affect major organs like the heart, liver, and kidneys. The good news? Regular dental cleanings can help prevent many of these problems before they start.

If your pet's breath could clear a room, it might be time to schedule a dental evaluation.

Some patients are easy. Some patients are...Brody. 😅

Over the years, we've learned exactly what Brody needs to help him have safe, successful visits. His appointments require extra planning, patience, teamwork, and trust from everyone involved—including his owner.

The truth is, not every pet loves coming to the vet. Some are fearful, anxious, or reactive. That doesn't make them "bad" pets. It just means we have to meet them where they are and do everything we can to make their experience as safe and low-stress as possible.

Recently, Brody's owner surprised our team with a gift basket and a card that read: "Sorry for the drama! Thanks for taking care of me anyways! Love, Brody." Needless to say, we laughed, smiled, and appreciated it more than she knows.

To Brody's owner: thank you for trusting us, working with us, and understanding the effort that goes into caring for a pet with special handling needs.

Every pet deserves compassionate care. Even the dramatic ones.

Every experienced veterinary professional remembers being the new person.

Luckily for Natalie, the "You're doing it wrong" was just part of the joke 😂

We're big believers in teaching, mentoring, and helping each other learn—because every great veterinary professional started somewhere.
