OK, so it's not just us that hears "Sub Q" and not "So cute"...right? đ
Subcutaneous fluids ("sub q fluids") are a great way to help pets stay hydrated without the need for an IV. We commonly use them for dehydration, vomiting, diarrhea, poor appetite, kidney disease, and other conditions that cause fluid loss.
And yesâthat little "camel hump" on the back is completely normal! đȘ
The fluids are delivered into the space under the skin and are gradually absorbed by the body over the next several hours.
So if your pet comes home looking a little lumpy after receiving fluids, don't worryâthat bump is just hydration on board. đ
