Sometimes, one of the best stress relievers has four paws đžđ¤
And thereâs actually some psychology behind why spending time with our pets can feel so calming.
Positive interactions with animals have been linked with lower perceived stress and anxiety, and may help reduce cortisol while supporting the release of oxytocin, a hormone associated with bonding, connection, and feelings of safety.
Pets can also bring us back into the present moment. Whether itâs going for a walk, throwing a ball, or simply sitting together, they give our minds somewhere gentle to focus when our thoughts feel overwhelming.
And, of course, thereâs the companionship. Having a little (or not-so-little!) friend whoâs simply happy to see you can be a pretty wonderful emotional outlet. đś
As you can see, mine is Mabel, a gorgeous blue eyed Aussie who takes her role very seriously. đ¤
Tell me in the comments: what pet do you have, and whatâs their name?
