Paradise Funeral Home Celebrates the Life of
MRS. NELDA ALEXANDER
----------------------------------------------
God hath not promised skies always blue, Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through, God hath not promised sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain. But God hath promised strength for the day, Rest for the labor, light for the way, Grace for the trials, help from above, Unfailing sympathy, and undying love.

On behalf of Ronald B. Washington and the entire Paradise Funeral Home Family, we extend our sincerest condolences to THE ALEXANDER FAMILY and express our gratitude for entrusting us with your loved one. May the blessings of the Lord keep you is our prayer.

In Loving Memory of Nelda Sue (Volentine) Alexander

January 24, 1946 – July 7, 2026

Nelda Sue (Volentine) Alexander, 80, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Above all else, Nelda loved the Lord. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life and guided every decision she made. She faithfully served God with a humble heart, unwavering trust, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone around her. Through her kindness, compassion, and servant's spirit, she reflected Christ's love to her family, friends, and all who knew her. A devoted member of Sweetwater Baptist Church, Nelda dearly loved her church family and found great joy in worship, fellowship, and serving alongside them throughout the years.

Family meant everything to Nelda. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a treasured great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was caring for those she loved. She was her family's biggest supporter, always encouraging, praying for, and celebrating each of their accomplishments. Her home was filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Nelda found joy in the simple blessings of life. She loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, tending to her flower gardens, and working in her yard. She cherished gatherings with her brothers, sisters, and extended family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. She and her beloved husband, John, also looked forward to their time at the Council on Aging, where they enjoyed meals, games, fellowship, and the many friendships they built over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Elnora Volentine; her sisters, Phyllis Volentine, Jimmie Jones (Tony), Doris Christian (Woodard), Rose Cranford (Malvin); her brothers, JD Volentine, Curtis Volentine; and her great-granddaughter, Bella Ann Roy.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, John D. Alexander; her sons, Scott Alexander (Wendy) and Daren Alexander (Tina); her beloved grandchildren, Ashley Alexander, Christopher Alexander, Bridget Alexander, Hunter Alexander (Katie), John Alexander, Aaron Alexander, Emily Allen (Jonathan), Rickey Allen (Jensine), Nikki Jorgensen, Bella Jorgensen, and Analise Jorgensen; and her nine cherished great-grandchildren: Libby, Luke, Haylen, Liam, Conner, Lathan, Cameron, Charlotte, and John Cooper.

She is also survived by her brothers, Alton Volentine (Barbara), Dale Volentine, and Phillip Volentine (Pam); her sisters, Gale Land and Ruby Hodges (Donnie); along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Paradise Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Sweet Water Baptist Church in Quitman, Louisiana, with Bro. Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of Paradise Funeral Home.

Nelda's life was a beautiful testimony of faith, love, and devotion. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the promise that this is not goodbye, but a joyful reunion yet to come in the presence of the Lord.
