MS. PHYLLIS ANN SMITH
----------------------------------------------
God hath not promised skies always blue, Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through, God hath not promised sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain. But God hath promised strength for the day, Rest for the labor, light for the way, Grace for the trials, help from above, Unfailing sympathy, and undying love.

On behalf of Ronald B. Washington and the entire Paradise Funeral Home Family, we extend our sincerest condolences to THE SMITH FAMILY and express our gratitude for entrusting us with your loved one. May the blessings of the Lord keep you is our prayer.

In Loving Memory of Phyllis Ann Smith
November 11, 1964 – June 4, 2026

Phyllis Ann Smith, of Jonesboro, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 61.

Born on November 11, 1964, in Ruston, Louisiana, Phyllis was a woman of remarkable strength, courage, and determination. Throughout her life, she faced challenges with unwavering resilience and a fighting spirit that inspired all who knew her. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought endless happiness and pride to her life.

Phyllis will be remembered for her fierce love, her generous heart, and the steadfast support she gave to those around her. Whether offering encouragement during difficult times or celebrating life’s happiest moments, she made those she loved feel cherished and valued.

She is survived by her children, Christopher Smith and wife Rebecca of Jonesboro, Louisiana, and Nicholas Smith and husband Casey of Lawrence, Kansas. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren, Wade (Gabriel), Logan (Skilar), and Addison, who were the light of her life. Phyllis was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great-granddaughter, Charlie, due in October, a blessing she spoke of with great excitement and love. Also survived by her Aunt Nora Jane and Uncle Ray Littlejohn, who were like a mother and father to her.

In addition to her immediate family, Phyllis is survived by numerous relatives and many close friends, especially her lifelong friend Jaynece, whose lives were enriched by her presence.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marshal Wayne Smith; her son, Adam Smith; and her cherished grandmother, Ollie Mae Dark.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that Phyllis’s legacy of strength, love, and perseverance will continue through the family she adored and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort, inspiration, and love.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Wade Smith, Logan Smith, Kevin Smith, John David Smith, Todd Griffith, and Andy Walsworth.

“A life filled with courage, a heart filled with love, and a legacy that will never be forgotten.”

Obituary for Montana “Monte” Dean Faulkner

Montana “Monte” Dean Faulkner, age 59, of Chatham, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026.
Born on December 15, 1966, to Eugene and Norma Jean Faulkner, Monte lived a life defined by hard work, mechanical ingenuity, and a deep love for his family and community.
Monte spent much of his life traveling for work on the pipeline, where he earned a reputation as a master mechanic and skilled pipeliner. Known as a true “jack of all trades,” he possessed an exceptional ability to fix, rebuild, or troubleshoot just about anything. Throughout his career, he contributed his talents to projects ranging from gold mines to barges, forming lasting friendships along the way. Monte was always willing to share his knowledge, instill a strong work ethic, and brighten the day with his signature sense of humor.
Above all, Monte was a devoted husband, father, and proud “Paw-Paw.” He cherished time spent outdoors—whether horseback riding, relaxing by the pool, fishing, riding motorcycles, or working in his home shop. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Norma Jean Faulkner; his brother Mark Faulkner; and his sister, Pam Faulkner.
Monte leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 42 years, Stacy Faulkner; his children, BreAnna, Quyncie, and Justin Faulkner; and his beloved grandchildren, Aiden, Addison, and Justice Faulkner. He is also survived by his sister, Charleen (Dino) Wise; his brothers, Jimmy (Kelly) Faulkner, Steven (Janell) Faulkner, and Danny (Connie) Faulkner; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends within the close-knit pipeline community.
