Life is busy, and taking care of yourself can easily fall to the bottom of the list. Virtual therapy helps make support a little more accessible.

Whether you’re at home wrapped up in your favorite blanket, on your lunch break, or simply looking for a more comfortable way to connect, therapy can meet you where you are—literally (in the state of PA). 🛋️

You don’t have to add another drive to your day to prioritize your mental health. Sometimes, showing up for yourself starts with simply logging in. 💻

If you’ve been thinking about starting therapy, virtual sessions may be the flexible option you’ve been looking for.

Deciding to begin therapy can feel intimidating, and may bring up a lot of questions…

❓What is it going to be like?
❓How am I supposed to open up to a stranger?
❓How long will it take until I start to feel better?
❓Is this even a reason to go to therapy?

Our goal at Justine Beneski Counseling is to make you feel comfortable and safe upon walking through the door (or logging onto session, if you choose virtual therapy). Either way, we have you in mind, and are here to support you.

Here’s a peak into our waiting room, and office space 🛋️🪴

Sometimes the earliest signs are the quietest ones.

Eating disorders don’t always begin with obvious changes around food. Often, they show up in subtle shifts—avoiding favorite meals, withdrawing from friends, increased anxiety around eating, or becoming more critical of their body.

While these signs don’t automatically mean someone has an eating disorder, they can be an important reminder to pause, ask gentle questions, and open the door to conversation.

Early support can make a meaningful difference, and you don’t have to wait until things feel like they’re at their worst to reach out.

At Blue Ridge, we’re here to support adolescents, families, and referring providers with compassionate, individualized care every step of the way.

If you have questions or simply aren’t sure what you’re seeing, we’re always happy to connect.

Movement isn’t just about burning calories or “earning” your food.

The relationship you have with exercise matters just as much as the movement itself.

Movement can be a form of self-care, connection, stress relief, joy, strength, or simply a way to feel more at home in your body. And some days, the most compassionate choice is rest.

Healing your relationship with movement means letting go of guilt and making room for flexibility, trust, and respect for your body’s needs.

Your body doesn’t need to earn care. It already deserves it 🫶🏼

Let's talk Trauma 💬

As Dr. Gabor Maté explains, "Trauma is not what happens to you; it is what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you." In other words, trauma is not defined solely by the event itself, but by the impact it has on your nervous system, emotions, and sense of safety. Whether you felt supported, protected, understood, or alone during and after difficult experiences can significantly influence how those events were processed.

As you review the experiences listed below, remember that two people can go through the same event and be affected in very different ways. An experience may have been traumatic for you if it overwhelmed your ability to cope, left you feeling unsafe, powerless, or disconnected, or continues to affect your thoughts, emotions, relationships, or body today. There are no "right" or "wrong" answers—this section is simply intended to help identify experiences that may have contributed to your current emotional well-being.

Yesterday, Korren and I had the pleasure of having lunch with the wonderful staff, and touring the beautifully secluded Blue Ridge Eating Disorder Care Center in Saylorsburg, PA, where they provide specialized eating disorder care in a home-like environment to adolescents from the ages of 11-17. 🏡🍽️🦋

Networking opportunities like these are incredibly valuable to us, especially when referring families to trusted resources. Building relationships and gaining firsthand knowledge of programs allows us to make recommendations with confidence, providing greater peace of mind for both our team and the families we serve.
