Warm fuzzies or cold pricklies, which are you passing along today? 💙🖤

These little friends are a simple reminder that our words and actions matter. Warm fuzzies are acts of kindness, encouragement, empathy, and connection that help others feel seen and valued. Cold pricklies are hurtful words or behaviors that can leave others feeling rejected or discouraged.

In counseling, we often explore how the way we treat ourselves and others shapes our relationships and emotional well-being. A small act of kindness can make a bigger difference than we realize.

Today, choose to spread a few more warm fuzzies. You never know who might need one!

Lately, we’ve had more actual rain than usual and every time I see it, I think about growth.

Rain is inconvenient. It disrupts plans, creates puddles, and can make everything feel heavy for a while. But it’s also what nourishes roots, softens hard ground, and makes new growth possible. Therapy can feel a lot like that.

The hard seasons, grief, anxiety, relationship struggles, burnout, uncertainty, are not signs that you’re failing. Often, they’re the conditions where the deepest growth begins. In therapy, we create space to move through the storm safely, understand what’s beneath the surface, and build the resilience that helps new growth take hold.

Growth rarely happens in constant sunshine. It happens when we’re willing to face the rain with support, compassion, and patience. If this season feels heavy, that doesn’t mean you’re stuck. It may mean something important is taking root.

Today is a reminder that sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is reconnect with the present moment.

Feeling the grass beneath your feet, the warmth of the sun, or the coolness of the ground can help bring your attention out of racing thoughts and back into the here and now. This is called grounding, a simple therapeutic tool that engages your senses and helps calm an overwhelmed mind.

On National Barefoot Day, consider taking a few moments to slow down, step outside, and notice what you feel beneath your feet.
Sometimes healing doesn't start with finding the right words, it starts with reconnecting to the moment you're already in 🩵

Fear and readiness don’t always arrive together.

Sometimes growth looks like shaky hands, a racing heart, and choosing to do it anyway.

Mother’s Day can hold so many emotions 💕

Today, we celebrate and honor mothers, grandmothers, bonus moms, chosen family, caregivers, and nurturing figures who show up with love, strength, and care.

And for those navigating grief, infertility, loss, estrangement, or the ache of longing today; your feelings are valid too.

Whatever this day means for you, may you offer yourself a little extra gentleness. You are allowed to feel joy, sadness, gratitude, grief, or all of it at once.

Big feelings can lead to big behaviors, especially for little ones who are still learning how to regulate đź’›

Teaching children simple, consistent language like safe hands, safe body, and calm body helps give them clear expectations they can actually understand and use.

✨ Safe Hands = hands stay to ourselves
✨ Safe Body = body is calm and not hurting others
✨ Calm Body = ready to listen, learn, and problem solve

The goal isn’t just stopping behaviors like hitting, kicking, or spitting, it’s helping children build the skills to recognize their feelings, regulate their bodies, and make safer choices.

Consistency between home and school makes all the difference. The more predictable the language, expectations, and responses are, the more secure and successful kids feel.

Save this post for parents, teachers, and counselors working with young children on emotional regulation and behavior support.

They save lives. They stay calm in chaos. They show up when others can’t.

But even everyday heroes carry things you can’t see.

First responders. Healthcare workers. Teachers. Military. Caregivers. Counselors.
The people we rely on most are often the ones who feel the most pressure to “hold it together.”

The truth?
Strength doesn’t mean silence.
Resilience doesn’t mean never struggling.

Behind the uniform, the title, or the role… there’s a human being who also needs space to process, rest, and be supported.

If you’re someone who shows up for everyone else:
🧠 Your mental health matters too
đź’¬ You deserve a place to talk openly
🤝 You don’t have to carry it alone

And if you know an everyday hero:
Check in. Listen. Remind them they don’t have to be “on” all the time.

Even superheroes need support.
