Echoics are when a learner repeats a sound, word, or phrase after hearing someone else say it. We target echoics because the ability to imitate speech is an important building block for communication. Strengthening echoic skills can help learners practice producing new sounds and words, improve the clarity of their speech, and expand the language they are able to use independently to communicate their wants, needs, and ideas.

🌈🧩 This is what ABA Through Play looks like! 💙 Intraverbal skills are so important for developing meaningful conversations. Instead of sitting at a table drilling questions, we can practice answering, commenting, and back-and-forth exchanges right in the middle of the things our kiddos already LOVE doing. 💬✨
