🤔 Have you ever wondered if you really need to see your doctor before starting physical therapy? In many cases, you don’t!

Tennessee’s Direct Access law allows you to see a licensed physical therapist for many muscle, joint, and movement-related problems without getting a physician’s referral first.

That means if you’re dealing with back pain, a sore shoulder, knee pain, or another musculoskeletal issue, you can come see us at Arlington Physical Therapy, and we can evaluate what’s going on and determine the best way to help.

And if we feel like you need to see a doctor, we’ll help point you in the right direction.

It’s convenient, it can save you time and money, and most importantly, you have a choice in where you receive your physical therapy.

If something is hurting or keeping you from doing the things you enjoy, give us a call. Let’s talk about it.

Back-to-school season is almost here! It feels like summer just started here in A-Town, but it's already time to get ready for a new school year. 💡 Back-to-School Tip: Make sure your child's backpack weighs no more than 10–15% of their body weight and encourage them to wear both shoulder straps. It's a simple way to help prevent back, neck, and shoulder pain.

From all of us at Arlington Physical Therapy, we hope every Arlington and Lakeland area student, teacher, and family has a safe, healthy, and successful school year.

Has pain interfered with your sports and outdoor activities? We know how incredibly frustrating it is to have to sit on the sidelines or walk out of a race simply because the pain won’t go away. Whether you’re recovering from a recent injury or have a chronic situation that won’t stop, losing access to your favorite activities can be the beginning of a sedentary, less healthy lifestyle.

But it doesn’t have to be. We’ve put together a free resource for our community: a list of activities that athletes and active individuals can use to keep conditioning. With these exercises and light activities, you can stay fit while letting other parts of your body rest. It’s free to reference whenever you need to.

Research shows that cross conditioning and staying fit helps aid in recovery and prevent injury. Click the link below and access our list whenever you need fitness inspiration while you’re recovering from pain.

📣 Note: Never push yourself past the point of feeling more pain. We always recommend checking with your doctor first.

It takes less than you might think to help keep your body fit and active while you’re on rest. We hope you enjoy some of these creative yet simple ways to stay active.

We don't know who needs to hear this, but tennis elbow isn't just for tennis players! If you've been dealing with pain on the outside of your elbow, you may have tennis elbow.

Tennis elbow is one of the most common overuse injuries we treat at Arlington Physical Therapy. It can be caused by repetitive everyday activities like lifting, gardening, painting, using hand tools, typing, or even carrying groceries.

The pain often starts as a mild ache but can make simple daily tasks surprisingly difficult, including:

Holding a coffee mug
Carrying shopping bags
Using a computer mouse
Lifting a child

The good news? Most cases respond very well to physical therapy. Our team will identify what's causing your pain, reduce inflammation, improve strength and flexibility, and help you get back to doing the things you enjoy, without relying on pain medications or unnecessary injections. 📣And remember, no DR. referral is needed to start getting treatment today! 📣

So give us a call us and let's get you on the schedule.
