Rush Creek Counseling Center

Rush Creek Counseling Center At the Rush Creek Counseling Center, we provide a confidential place to face your struggles.

At the Rush Creek Counseling Center, we provide a confidential place to face those struggles with the assistance of a professional counselor. Therapy is tailored to the specific needs of the individual, couple or family. The process of growth and development in every person looks and feels different; therefore we attempt to meet people where they are and incorporate various assignments and techniques with traditional “talk” therapy.

Healthy risk-taking can often lead to personal growth:

Try a new recipe.
Join a social club.
Talk to someone you don’t know well.
Learn a new skill.
Apply for something you’re unsure you’ll get.
Have a hard conversation.
Say yes to something new.

What healthy risk could you take this week?

Going through a challenging season? Take some time to practice lament. Follow the pattern of turning to God, making complaints, asking, and trusting God.

Consider one of the following Psalms:

--Communal laments: 12, 44, 60, 74, 79, 80, 83, 85, 89, 90, 94, 123, 126, 129

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

What research shows about healthy friendships:

➕You can co-regulate, or “borrow calm” from safe people in moments of stress.
➕Positive social interactions activate the brain's reward system, reinforcing feelings of safety and belonging.
➕People with strong social support tend to recover more quickly from stressful events.
➕Feeling understood can reduce the brain's threat response.
➕Social connection is considered a protective factor against many mental health challenges because it buffers the effects of chronic stress.
➕Meaningful friendships are linked with lower inflammation markers and better overall physical health in many studies.

These benefits aren't quantity-dependent, either -- just one quality friend can produce the same effects.

Need help finding a safe friendship? Or simply want to take your relationship from good to great? Rush Creek counselors are here to talk. 817-704-6991.

Did you know one-third of the Bible's Psalms are laments? Lamentation must be a pretty important practice for God's people, then!

We've put together a playlist of songs that sit in the tension between pain and God's promises. Songs that don't skip ahead to the happy ending, but wrestle with God in the "not yets."

These songs will sit with you in the hard times without rushing to fix them. Our counselors will do the same. Call us at 817-704-6991 to schedule an appointment.
