Keep Calm and Get Adjusted.

Hello Friends,

In just a few days, I'll be leaving for London.

This means that for one glorious week, I'll be trading Rosslyn traffic for double-decker buses, replacing American coffee and bagel with tea and crumpets, and attempting to blend in with the locals despite the fact that my French accent already makes me sound suspicious in two countries.

From July 1st through July 9th, my plans include Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, afternoon tea, Kew Gardens, West End musicals, historic neighborhoods, museums, fish and chips, and yes, don't hate me, Harry Potter!!!

I'm particularly excited about riding the London Underground, where millions of passengers hear the same warning every day:

"Mind the Gap."

For those who haven't visited London, this announcement reminds passengers not to accidentally step into the space between the train and the platform.

As a chiropractor, I immediately thought:

"Finally! A public transportation system that gives spinal health advice."

Because most back problems begin with a gap.

The gap between:

"I feel fine."
and
"Why does it hurt to put on socks?"

The gap between:

"It's just a little stiffness."
and
"Can somebody help me out of this chair?"

The gap between:

"I don't need an appointment."
and
"What's the soonest Dr. Jean-Luc can see me?"

Many people ignore that gap for weeks or months.

Then summer arrives.

Suddenly they're hauling luggage through airports, wrestling bags of mulch, spending hours in the garden, painting guest rooms, sitting in cars for road trips, chasing grandchildren, or discovering muscles they forgot existed while attempting a new pickleball hobby.

That's usually when the body decides to file a formal complaint.

At the Tower of London, I'll be surrounded by structures that have survived for centuries because they've been properly maintained. Tower Bridge doesn't wait until pieces start falling off before someone pays attention to it. Big Ben doesn't say, "Let's ignore that strange noise and see what happens."

Your spine deserves the same level of respect.

A little maintenance now is often much easier than dealing with a major flare-up later.

Since I'll be away from July 1st through July 9th, appointment availability before my departure is becoming limited.

If you've been thinking:

✔ "I should probably get adjusted."

✔ "My neck has been bothering me."

✔ "My back isn't quite right."

✔ "I'll call next week."

Consider this your official British reminder to Mind the Gap.

Don't wait until a minor annoyance becomes a vacation souvenir.

And while I'm away enjoying double-decker buses, world-class gardens, historic landmarks, and trying to determine why every British street seems to have been designed by a committee of confused medieval goats, David will be holding down the fort, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and making sure everything is ready for my return.

My goal is to come home with wonderful memories, hundreds of photos, and only a mild case of jet lag.

Fortunately, I know a good chiropractor.

Keep Calm and Get Adjusted.

Warmly,

Dr. Jean-Luc Sansfaute

Father's Day: A Tribute to Men Who Say "I'm Fine"

Happy Father's Day!

This weekend, we celebrate dads everywhere—the brave souls who can assemble a grill, carry three sleeping children at once, move an entire couch by themselves, and still insist they're "fine" despite walking like a pretzel afterward.

Let's be honest. Dads have a unique relationship with pain.

A dad can throw out his back hauling mulch, tweak his shoulder playing catch, sleep in a lawn chair at a soccer tournament, and somehow conclude that all he needs is "a good night's sleep."

Sound familiar?

Whether you're a dad, have a dad, or simply appreciate the heroic ability of fathers to ignore symptoms for months at a time, Father's Day is a good reminder that taking care of yourself isn't a luxury—it's part of showing up for the people who depend on you.

So this week, here's our Father's Day challenge:

✅ Stretch before tackling that weekend project.
✅ Lift with your legs, not your ego.
✅ Take a break before the yard work turns into a chiropractic emergency.
✅ And if something is hurting, don't wait until you can only turn your entire body to look sideways.

At Vitalité Chiropractic, we're here to help keep dads—and everyone else—moving comfortably so they can enjoy the moments that matter most. Whether you're chasing kids, carrying grandkids, working in the yard, or conquering a weekend project, we're here to help keep you moving. So, schedule your appointment today and give your spine something to celebrate too.

From all of us, Happy Father's Day to the dads, grandfathers, stepdads, bonus dads, dog dads, and father figures in our community.

Your back may be getting older, but you don't have to act like it.

See you soon,

Dr. Jean-Luc Sansfaute & David
Vitalité Chiropractic

P.S. If your Father's Day plans involve carrying coolers, assembling furniture, landscaping, or demonstrating that "I've still got it," we recommend stretching first.

🌈 Happy Pride Month, darlings! 🌈

As June is both Pride Month and Scoliosis Awareness Month, I'd like to introduce our special guest:

✨ Miss Deviation ✨

(Cue sequins. Cue applause.)

"Now, I love curves.

A curve in a rainbow? Fabulous.

A curve on a runway? Stunning.

A curve in a vintage Corvette? Timeless.

A curve in your spine?

Well... that depends."

💅

Scoliosis affects millions of people, but let's be honest—even those without scoliosis tend to collect a few twists and turns over the years.

Years at a desk.

Years staring at a phone.

Years carrying kids.

Years insisting they're still 25 while playing pickleball.

As Miss Deviation likes to say:

"Honey, if your whole body has to rotate just to look over your shoulder, that's not flexibility. That's a group project."

🤣

The goal isn't a perfectly straight spine.

(In fact, during Pride Month, that joke practically writes itself.)

The goal is to move well, feel good, and not make strange noises every time you stand up from the couch.

So this month:

🌈 Be proud of who you are.

🌈 Be proud of taking care of yourself.

🌈 Be proud of finally scheduling the appointment you've been putting off.

Because as Miss Deviation always says:

"Be proud of your curves, darling. Just don't ignore the ones causing your headaches."

Happy Pride Month and Happy Scoliosis Awareness Month!

Dr. Jean-Luc Sansfaute & Team

P.S. Miss Deviation asked me to remind you:

"I've seen houseplants with better posture than some of you." 🌿

Book your next appointment

Dear Vitalité Family,

June is Men's Health Month, which seems like the perfect time to discuss one of mankind's greatest talents:

The art of pretending everything is fine.

You know the look.

A man turns his entire torso to check his blind spot because his neck won't rotate.

Someone asks, "Does that hurt?"

He replies, "Not really."

Meanwhile, he's moving like a forklift.

Men will spend six months stretching, grunting, adjusting their office chair, buying a new pillow, buying another new pillow, watching YouTube videos, and inventing elaborate ways to avoid turning their necks before considering that maybe—just maybe—they should get it checked.

Headaches? "Probably stress."

Low back pain? "Probably slept wrong."

Shoulder pain? "Probably getting older."

Numbness in the arm? "Probably nothing."

At some point, "probably" starts doing a lot of heavy lifting.

And June can be particularly rough on the body. Between yard work, weekend projects, golf, pickleball, carrying children on shoulders, lifting mulch bags that apparently weigh as much as a compact car, and trying to prove to everyone that you're still 25, small aches have a way of becoming bigger problems.

The good news?

Most musculoskeletal issues don't appear overnight. They build gradually through -poor posture, repetitive stress, restricted movement, and compensation patterns. That's why prevention matters.

A simple posture evaluation can reveal imbalances long before they become chronic pain.

A minor loss of neck mobility today can become tomorrow's headache.

That occasional low back stiffness can turn into something much harder to ignore.

The goal isn't just to get out of pain.

The goal is to keep doing the things you enjoy—playing with your kids, working in the yard, traveling, exercising, and living life—without your body constantly negotiating the terms.

So if you've been rotating your entire body instead of your neck...

If you've been stretching the same sore spot for three months...

Or if someone who loves you keeps saying, "You should really get that looked at..."

Maybe this is your sign.

Men's Health Month is a good reminder that taking care of yourself isn't weakness—it's maintenance.

And trust me, your spine would much rather receive regular maintenance than wait for the check-engine light to come on.

Stay healthy,

This Weather Has Our Joints Filing Formal Complaints

Dear Vitalité Friends,

Can we all agree that this Memorial Day weekend was... deeply offensive?

Rain. More rain. Damp air thick enough to chew. Temperatures swinging from “light sweater” to “welcome to the Amazon rainforest” in what felt like a matter of hours.

If your knees sounded like microwave popcorn getting out of bed this morning, you are not alone.

Now, before the meteorologists come after me: no, weather doesn’t magically cause arthritis. But rapid changes in barometric pressure, humidity, and temperature can absolutely make stiff joints, tight muscles, old injuries, and cranky backs feel a whole lot louder.

Translation?

Your body basically became its own dramatic weather app.

☔ Neck tighter than usual?
☔ Low back feeling suspicious?
☔ Headaches showing up out of nowhere?
☔ That shoulder injury from 2009 suddenly wanting attention?

Classic.

When humidity rises, tissues can feel heavier and more sluggish. When pressure shifts, sensitive joints and inflamed tissues often let you know—sometimes quite theatrically.

That’s where chiropractic care can help.

By improving joint mobility, reducing mechanical irritation, calming muscle tension, and helping your body move the way it was designed to, we can often make these weather tantrums a lot easier to live with.

Because while we can’t adjust the atmosphere... we can adjust you.

If this soggy excuse for a holiday weekend left your body protesting, now’s a good time to get back on the schedule. Click the button below or text/call us at 703-879-5144

Your spine deserves better weather.

À bientôt,

A Gentle Memorial Day Reminder

Memorial Day gives us a chance to pause.

To remember those who served. To gather with family. To fire up the grill. To confidently tell ourselves “I can absolutely move that giant bag of mulch by myself.”

(Please don’t.)

But on a more personal note…

I was recently reminded that health is not something to postpone.

A dear friend passed away unexpectedly recently at just 62 years old—only two years into retirement, with every reason to believe he had plenty of time ahead.

Life has a way of humbling us.

Now, I’m not here to turn your inbox into a philosophy seminar before your holiday weekend—but I am here to gently remind you that taking care of yourself should not always live on next week’s to-do list.

That nagging neck pain.
That lower back that complains every time you stand up.
Those headaches you’ve decided are just “your normal.”
That shoulder that’s been crunchy since approximately the Obama administration.

Your body whispers… until eventually it starts yelling.

While chiropractic care isn’t a magic shield against life’s unpredictability, it is one meaningful way to care for the body that carries you through all of it.

So before the long weekend turns into an Olympic event involving coolers, gardening, questionable patio furniture assembly, and heroic feats of “I’ve got this” energy…

Take care of yourself.

📅 Memorial Day Office Closure Notice:
Vitalité Chiropractic will be closed Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day.

If your body has been asking for attention, we’d love to help you before the holiday weekend.

Schedule your visit today → [Insert Booking Link]

Stay safe, move well, and enjoy the weekend.

“Gardening injuries are real

(and predictable)”

Dear Vitalité family,

Every year around this time, it happens…

A sudden burst of motivation.
The sun is out. The weather is perfect.
And you decide:

“Today… I become a gardener superhero.” 🌱

Fast forward a few hours:

You’ve hauled bags of mulch
Twisted like a pretzel pulling weeds
Bent over for way longer than your spine signed up for

…and now?

👉 You can’t stand up straight
👉 Your lower back is sending strongly worded complaints
👉 And getting off the couch requires a strategic plan

Sound familiar?

Here’s the thing—gardening seems harmless, but it’s actually one of the most common triggers we see this time of year. All that bending, lifting, and twisting (usually after a long winter of doing… less of that) is a perfect recipe for spinal stress.

The good news?
This is exactly the kind of thing we can help with—quickly.

A simple adjustment can:
✔️ Restore proper motion
✔️ Reduce inflammation
✔️ Get you back to moving like a normal human again

Because let’s be honest…
You’ve got more planting to do 😄

🌿 Don’t let yard work take you out of commission

If your back (or neck, or shoulders) started acting up after a weekend outside, let’s get ahead of it before it turns into a longer issue.

📅 Appointments fill quickly this time of year—especially after busy weekends—so don’t wait too long to get in.

👉 Call or text us at 703-879-5144
👉 Or schedule online by clicking the button below 👇
And one more thing…

If you know someone who also went a little too hard in the yard this weekend, send them our way. Referrals are always the best compliment—and we’ll take great care of them.

See you (standing upright) soon,
Dr. Jean-Luc

P.S. If you’re planning another big yard project this weekend… maybe pace yourself a little.
Or at least schedule your adjustment now 😏

Spring Cleaning Isn’t Just for Your House…

Dear Vitalité Family,

Spring is here—which means closets are getting cleaned, windows are getting opened… and suddenly everyone is feeling just motivated enough to reorganize their entire life.

But let me ask you something:

When was the last time you did a little “spring cleaning” for your spine?

Because while you’ve been decluttering your home…
your posture might still be holding onto last winter’s habits:

Too much sitting
Too little movement
A few “I’ll deal with it later” aches

Now here’s where timing matters:

👉 I’ll be in Reston, VA this weekend for a continuing education conference
(yes, voluntarily sitting in a chair all weekend—don’t worry, I’ll survive 😄)

Which means…

No Saturday hours this week.😱

So if your body has been:

Feeling tight
Moving a little off
Or quietly building up tension

This is your moment to reset.

Think of it as your Spring Spine Tune-Up 🌿

Because chiropractic care isn’t just about fixing pain—
it’s about clearing out the tension, restoring balance, and keeping your body running the way it should.

Let’s get ahead of it—before it slows you down.

📞 Call/Text us: 703-879-5144
📅 Or click the button below to schedule online

I’ll be back next week with new tools, new insights, and even more ways to help you move and feel your best.

Until then…

Let’s get you aligned before I go.

À très bientôt,
Dr. Jean-Luc
Vitalité Chiropractic

P.S.

Spring cleaning your garage feels productive…
but fixing your posture?
That’s the upgrade your body actually wants. 😉

Life Happens…

Your Spine Still Needs You

This Saturday, I’ll be trading my adjusting table for dress shoes and a proud parent moment as we celebrate our son’s First Communion.

It’s one of those meaningful family milestones that reminds you how quickly time moves… and how important it is to actually feel good enough to enjoy those moments.

Because let’s be honest—life doesn’t slow down.
Between work, workouts, travel, and everything else on your plate, it’s easy to push aches and stiffness to the side… until your body decides otherwise.

A little tightness becomes a constant annoyance.
A small tweak becomes something that limits what you can do.

And suddenly, the moments you want to enjoy the most are the ones where your body is holding you back.

That’s where we come in.

Whether it’s something that’s been nagging you for a while or just a sense that your body isn’t moving the way it should, now is a great time to get ahead of it.

Quick heads-up: We will be closed this Saturday for the celebration, so if you’ve been meaning to come in, be sure to grab a spot before or plan ahead for next week.

👉Schedule your appointment by clicking the button below.👇

Take care of your body so it doesn’t decide your schedule for you.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,
Dr. Jean-Luc

P.S. Know someone who’s been saying “I should probably get that checked”?
Send them our way—we’ll take great care of them (and you’ll look like the hero for recommending us).

Tax Season is Over. Your Tension Isn’t!

Dear Vitalité Family,

You did it.

You gathered the receipts.
You hunted down that one missing document.
You stared at your screen long enough to question all your life choices.

Taxes: filed. ✅
Posture: …filed under “we’ll deal with that later.” 😅

Let’s be honest—tax season isn’t just financially taxing.

It’s neck-tightening, shoulder-clenching, low-back-complaining kind of taxing.

All those hours hunched over a laptop…
All that low-grade stress sitting in your muscles…
All those “I’ll fix my posture in a second” moments that somehow lasted 3 hours…

Your body noticed.

And now that the IRS is (almost) out of your life…
your spine would like a word.

At Vitalité Chiropractic, this is exactly what we help with:

➡️ Releasing that built-up tension in your neck and shoulders
➡️ Restoring proper movement after too much sitting
➡️ Getting you out of that stiff, compressed, “I need a vacation from my chair” feeling

Think of it as your post-tax season reset—no forms required, no audit, just feeling better.

And unlike your taxes…
this is one thing you don’t want to procrastinate 😉
👉 Schedule your appointment today and start moving (and feeling) like yourself again. Click the button below or call/text us at 703-879-5144

P.S. Know someone who survived tax season but didn’t escape the neck and shoulder tension? Forward them this email—your spine (and theirs) will thank you. And honestly, referrals are the only thing we don’t tax 😉
