When a trauma patient comes through our doors, the first hour of care happens right here in Artesia. That's why we brought the experts to us.
Our nurses, physicians, and support staff recently completed the Rural Trauma Team Development Course, taught on site by the trauma team from University of New Mexico Hospital, the state's only Level I trauma center. The course is built for rural hospitals like ours: recognize life-threatening injuries fast, stabilize with the resources on hand, and get patients to a higher level of care without delay when needed.
A big thank you to Samantha Davis, RN, our trauma coordinator, for organizing the training, and to the UNM trauma team for making the trip to Artesia. Rural New Mexico is stronger when we train together.
