You don't have to wait for the perfect maternity photos to capture your pregnancy.

Ask your partner to take pictures of you now. 💕

Take the photo when you're:
✨ Getting ready for the day
✨ Holding your growing belly
✨ Feeling baby kick
✨ Cooking dinner
✨ Playing with your other children
✨ Laughing at something silly
✨ Decorating the nursery
✨ Taking a walk
✨ Resting on the couch
✨ Looking at your belly in the mirror
✨ Having a quiet moment together
✨ Just being YOU

And please don't worry about looking perfect.

Your hair doesn't have to be done.
Your makeup doesn't have to be perfect.
Your house doesn't have to be spotless.
Your outfit doesn't have to be cute.

Capture the real pregnancy. 🤍

Because someday, your little one may look at those pictures and see the person who carried them before they ever got to meet you.

They'll see your growing belly.
They'll see your smile.
They'll see the love you already had for them.

And mama, you deserve to be in those memories.

You're so busy documenting everyone else. Let someone document you. 📸💜

Pregnancy can be such a beautiful time to reconnect with the creative part of yourself. 💜

Your body is creating new life, and sometimes that can inspire you to create in other ways, too. You don't have to be an “artist” or know exactly what you're doing. Creativity isn't about being perfect — it's about expressing yourself, having fun, and giving yourself space to explore.

✨ Paint something just because it makes you smile
✨ Start a pregnancy journal or art journal
✨ Make a scrapbook for your growing baby
✨ Crochet, knit, sew, or try something completely new
✨ Create belly art
✨ Take photographs of your pregnancy journey
✨ Write letters to your baby
✨ Make a playlist for pregnancy, birth, or postpartum
✨ Decorate your baby's space
✨ Make handmade keepsakes
✨ Press flowers or create a nature-inspired piece
✨ Let your little one “help” you create once they're old enough

And don't forget about the creativity that doesn't look like traditional art.

Creating a birth altar.
Making a vision board.
Writing your birth wishes.
Designing affirmations.
Decorating your belly.
Dancing around your living room.
Cooking something new.
Finding new ways to make your space feel like home.

🌿 There is no right way to be creative.

Pregnancy can change so much about how you see yourself and the world around you. Give yourself permission to discover new parts of yourself along the way.

Maybe you'll create something beautiful.

Maybe you'll make a complete mess.

Maybe you'll discover a hobby you never knew you loved.

And maybe your child will one day look at something you made during pregnancy and know, “My mama made this while she was waiting for me.” 🥹💜

Create. Explore. Get messy. Have fun.

Your creativity deserves a place in your pregnancy, too. 🌸🎨✨

There is something so incredibly special about letting your child experience pregnancy alongside you.

They get to feel the little kicks.
They get to talk to your belly.
They get to help pick out tiny clothes.
They get to wonder who this little person will be.
They get to watch your family grow right before their eyes. 🥹💕

But it isn't always picture perfect.

Your child might feel excited one moment and unsure the next. They might become clingier, ask LOTS of questions, or wonder where they will fit once the baby arrives.

And that's okay. 🤍

Pregnancy is a huge change for the whole family—not just the person carrying the baby.

Invite them into the experience in ways that feel right for your family. Let them ask questions. Let them feel the belly. Read books about becoming a big sibling. Talk about the changes coming while reminding them of something incredibly important:

There will always be room for them in your heart. 🌸

One day, they'll look back and remember being part of the story before their little sibling even arrived.

And what a beautiful gift that is. 💜

Grocery shopping with a baby can feel like a whole adventure… especially when you’re trying to juggle a shopping cart, your list, your wallet, and a tiny human who suddenly needs ALL of your attention. 😂💕

This is where babywearing can be such a helpful tool!

🤍 Keep baby close — Babywearing allows your little one to stay snuggled close while you move through the store.

🛒 Have your hands available — Instead of carrying baby in your arms, you can use your hands for your groceries, shopping list, or helping an older sibling.

🌸 Make quick trips a little easier — Sometimes you just need to run in for a few things. Having baby comfortably secured can make those short trips feel much more manageable.

👀 Stay mindful of your surroundings — Watch your baby's positioning, keep their face visible and airway clear, and be aware of carts, shelves, doorways, and other people around you.

💜 And remember… you don't have to do everything the way everyone else does.

Some babies love being worn. Some babies don't. Some parents swear by their carrier, while others prefer a stroller or simply carrying their little one.

There is no one "right" way.

Find what makes you and your baby feel comfortable, connected, and supported. 🌿

Because sometimes grocery shopping isn't just grocery shopping…

It's a little outing, a little adventure, and a whole lot of memories being made together. 🥰

🌸💜 LET’S MAKE SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL TOGETHER 💜🌸

There’s something special about creating art alongside other people.

You start with a blank canvas… and somehow, through a little paint, conversation, laughter, and connection, you end up with something that didn’t exist before. 🎨🌸

That’s the heart behind Bloom Together: Create for Choice.

I’m creating a space where we can slow down for an evening, breathe, connect with one another, and celebrate the importance of choice, autonomy, and community.

No pressure.
No expectations.
No need to be “good” at art.

Just come paint. 💜
Come eat. 🍽️
Come listen to music. 🎶
Come meet someone new.
Come bring your kiddos. 🌸
Come be part of something bigger than yourself.

As a doula, I know how powerful it can be when we have people beside us who remind us that we don’t have to walk through life alone.

Community is part of care.

So grab a friend, bring your creativity, and come spend some time with us. 🌸

Have you ever heard someone say, “I felt every contraction in my back”? That may have been back labor. 🤍

Back labor is when a birthing person experiences especially intense pressure or pain in their lower back during labor. Sometimes it happens with every contraction, and sometimes the back pain continues between contractions.

✨ What can back labor feel like?

Deep, intense pressure in the lower back
Pain that wraps around the hips or pelvis
Strong pressure with each contraction
Difficulty finding a comfortable position
Pain that may feel different from what you expected labor to feel like

🌿 Things that may help
There isn't one magic position or comfort measure that works for everyone, but you can try:

🤍 Counter-pressure on the lower back
🤍 Hip squeezes or double hip squeezes
🤍 Hands-and-knees positions
🤍 Leaning forward over a birth ball, bed, or partner
🤍 Standing and swaying or rocking
🤍 Water—shower or tub, if available and appropriate
🤍 Heat on the lower back
🤍 Massage or firm pressure
🤍 Changing positions frequently
🤍 Breathing, relaxation, and vocalization
🤍 Having your support person or doula help you experiment with what feels best

And remember: back labor doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong. 💜

Your body is working hard. Your support team is there to help you find comfort, one contraction at a time.

Sometimes birth asks us to get creative with comfort—and that's where having someone beside you who knows different techniques can make such a beautiful difference. 🌸

You don't have to tough it out alone.
You deserve support, comfort, encouragement, and someone reminding you that you are capable. 🤍

🌿 Birth is not one-size-fits-all. Your comfort measures shouldn't be either.

Pregnancy is such a beautiful time to slow down, get creative, and make memories together. And you don’t need anything fancy—just a little imagination, some art supplies, and time together. ✨

🎨 Paint a Belly Masterpiece
Let your little one help paint your belly with washable, skin-safe body paint. Turn your bump into a garden, rainbow, flowers, or whatever your imagination creates! 🌈🌸

🖐️ Create a Family Handprint Art Piece
Make a handprint picture with everyone in the family. Add baby’s name or due date so you have a special keepsake from this chapter.

👶 Make Art for Baby’s Nursery
Let the older kiddos create artwork to hang in baby’s room. It can be something as simple as their handprints, painted flowers, or a picture of your growing family.

💌 Create a Welcome-to-the-Family Card
Have the kiddos make a special card or drawing for baby to keep as a memory of how excited they were to meet their new sibling.

📖 Make a Baby Storybook Together
Create your own little book about becoming a big sibling. Let your child draw the pictures while you write down their words and feelings.

🌸 Paint Your Pregnancy Feelings
Ask your kiddos what they think pregnancy feels like. Let them turn those feelings into colors, shapes, and pictures.

🧸 Create a Picture of Baby
Ask them what they think baby will look like, what baby might love, or what they think baby will be like. Their answers can be absolutely magical. 🥹💕

🎨 Decorate Baby’s First Outfit
With fabric-safe supplies, create a special design on a baby shirt, bib, or other keepsake.

🌿 Make a Family Nature Collage
Collect leaves, flowers, and other nature treasures together and create a beautiful collage celebrating your growing family.

📸 Create a Pregnancy Memory Page
Take a photo of your art session and add your child’s artwork, their thoughts about becoming a sibling, and the date. These little moments become precious memories.

💜 And remember... it doesn't have to be perfect.

The paint doesn't need to stay inside the lines.
The artwork doesn't need to match the nursery.
And the activity doesn't have to last all afternoon.

Newborns may not have words yet, but they are communicating with us all the time. Their little movements, sounds, facial expressions, and behaviors can give us beautiful clues about what they need. 🥹

✨ Some common newborn signs to watch for:

🤍 Rooting — Turning their head, opening their mouth, or searching when their cheek is touched. This can be an early hunger cue.

🤍 Hands to mouth — Bringing their hands toward their mouth, sucking on fingers, or making little sucking motions can mean baby is ready to feed.

🤍 Fussing or crying — Crying is communication, not “being difficult.” Baby may be hungry, tired, uncomfortable, overstimulated, or simply need connection.

🤍 Turning away — Looking away, closing their eyes, or becoming less engaged can be a sign that baby needs a break from stimulation.

🤍 Yawning & jerky movements — These can be signs that baby is getting tired or overwhelmed and may need help settling.

🤍 Relaxed hands & body — A calm, relaxed baby may have open hands, soft movements, and a more peaceful expression. 💕

🤍 Bright eyes & alertness — When baby is awake, looking around, and making eye contact, they may be ready for connection and gentle interaction.

And remember: you don't have to understand every little cue right away. Getting to know your baby is a process. You are learning each other, one day at a time. 🌱

There is no perfect newborn parent. There is just a parent showing up, watching, listening, learning, and loving their baby.

✨ Your baby has a voice. Sometimes that voice is a wiggle, a yawn, a tiny sound, or a searching mouth.

Let's learn to listen to the little things. 🤍🌿

🌸 A Little Reminder About BLOOM TOGETHER 🌸

Sometimes community doesn’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes it looks like sitting outside with a paintbrush in your hand, listening to music, sharing food, meeting someone new, and having a conversation that reminds you that you’re not alone. 💜

That’s what I hope Bloom Together: Create for Choice can be.

As a doula, so much of my work centers around creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, supported, and respected. I wanted to bring that same energy into our community for an evening centered around creativity, connection, and bodily autonomy.

🎨 We’ll paint together.
🌸 We’ll create something beautiful.
🍽️ We’ll share food.
🎶 We’ll listen to music.
💬 We’ll connect.
📚 We’ll have reproductive justice resources available.
💜 And we’ll make space for community.

You don’t have to be an artist. You don’t have to know anyone. You don’t have to have the perfect words.

Just come as you are.

👨‍👩‍👧 Families are welcome, too! Bring the kids and let them enjoy the playground while you spend some time creating and connecting.

We talk so much about the golden hour after birth—the quiet room, baby tucked against your chest, skin-to-skin, first feeding, those magical first moments together.

But sometimes… birth doesn't go the way we imagined.

Maybe you had a cesarean birth.
Maybe there were unexpected interventions.
Maybe your baby needed extra medical attention.
Maybe your little one had to go to the NICU.
Maybe you weren't able to have immediate skin-to-skin.

And if that happens, please hear this:

You did not miss your only chance to bond with your baby. 🤍

Your golden hour might look different.

Maybe your partner gets the first skin-to-skin while you are recovering.

Maybe you get to hold your baby a little later.

Maybe you place your hand on their tiny body in the NICU.

Maybe you talk to them, sing to them, or simply sit beside them.

Maybe your first uninterrupted hour together happens hours—or even days—after birth.

That connection still matters. 🌿

There is no stopwatch on bonding.
There is no “perfect” way to meet your baby.
And there is no single moment that determines the relationship you will have.

Birth can be beautiful, complicated, emotional, unexpected, messy, joyful, scary, or all of those things at once.

As a doula, I want parents to know that we can make space for connection even when the birth plan changes.

Your golden hour doesn't have to look like someone else's.

It just needs to be yours. 🌅🤍
