Lights, camera, memories! ✨🎬

We had a chic and unforgettable ladies’ outing with a few of our amazing residents as we headed to see The Devil Wears Prada2 at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema One Loudoun!

The evening started with a champagne toast and a red-carpet photo opportunity before our movie night began — giving our residents the chance to feel celebrated, glamorous, and a little bit like the stars they are. ❤️

One of our favorite moments was overhearing one resident tell another, “You look like a movie star!” — and her response was simply, “Well, I feel like one!” ✨

Creating moments like these is what makes our community so special — bringing friends together, making memories, and celebrating the women who bring so much joy and personality to Waltonwood. 💕

For many senior citizens, Earth Day (a celebration of our environment) is an opportunity to cultivate a legacy. Planting is a powerful way to make a positive impact on the environment. Residents planted beautiful multicolor flowers in raised beds in the courtyard, doing their part to support and protect the environment. Plants pull carbon from the atmosphere helping to fight climate change, provide essential food and shelter to support wildlife and filter pollutants to help keep soil healthy. Happy Earth & Arbor Day!

Waltonwood was hopping for Easter. Children scrambled to find candy filled eggs. The excitement grew when Peter Cottontail made an appearance. The day ended with a celebratory feast of asparagus soup, lamb and seafood fettuccine Alfredo.

We celebrated another incredible Taste of Waltonwood! ☀️🌻

With beautiful weather and sunshine all around, our talented culinary team truly outdid themselves. Guests enjoyed a delicious spread featuring Chef carving Iberico air-cured ham, along with crab tarts, chicken à la king, and savory top sirloin (picanha).

To top it all off, we served our signature carrot cake for dessert—always a favorite! 🍰

The room was filled with fresh sunflowers and a fun selfie wall, making it a perfect day full of great food, great company, and even better memories.

This week, we took another joyful Read Across America trip to The Gardner School of Ashburn. Residents shared the beautiful book Different - A Great Thing to Be. Which, sparked thoughtful group conversations about what makes each of us wonderfully unique. The children eagerly shared their own ideas. The intergenerational dialogue created a warm and uplifting atmosphere.

To wrap up our visit, students were gifted goodie bags. Which, included a copy of the book. We all joined together in singing “The More We Get Together”, with sign language added to reinforce the message of unity and belonging.

These visits remind us how powerful it is when generations come together to celebrate what makes us all special. 📚💚

Residents donned green and got the “paddy” started on St. Patrick’s Day in the wee hours of the morning. After all, it was already 3 o’clock in Ireland. A mighty craic led by Leah and Friends got everyone in the mood for a rollicking good time as they belted out favorite Irish tunes. Next up, the Blue Ridge Thunder Cloggers defied gravity as they fiercely leapt into the air and glided across the floor with intricate and percussive steps. Raucously and joyously, the residents ventured into the pub to continue raising their glasses of Guinness, O’Doul‘s and green punch. After grabbing a g*t, they made their way into the parlor for corned beef brisket, cabbage, potatoes, Irish stew, and soda bread.

Residents went on a book adventure to Ashburn Elementary School to celebrate Read Across America. This year’s theme is “Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers”. Over two hundred students from kindergarten to 5th grade excitedly trickled into the library. Residents enjoyed stepping into a Storybook World, bringing many fun characters to life for the students. Upon leaving, residents donated twenty-five new literary treasures to the school library.

John and his wife Moon spent much of their life together traveling. No matter where they went, they always made time to enjoy a local opera or orchestra. It was one of the first things John shared with us when he moved into Waltonwood. He made it clear how meaningful those performances were to their marriage.

Thanks to our Adventure program, John and Moon enjoyed a beautiful evening at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. They attended the Washington National Opera Orchestra featuring the Cafritz Young Artists. The performance was stunning and stirred up cherished memories.

After the show, we were not ready for the night to end. Therefore, on the way back to Waltonwood we stopped for a sweet treat at Rita’s. We spent an hour talking about childhood, parenthood, and family life. It was the kind of conversation you feel connected to long after the moment has passed.

It was an evening filled with music, memories and connection. An evening we were honored to share with them. 💚

It was puppy pandemonium at Waltonwood! Heeling House located in Leesburg, Virginia brought seven of its 8 to 10 month old labrador retrievers for human socialization. We were under siege with absolute cuteness. Heeling House professionally trains therapy and service dogs to do life-changing work. The organization breeds raises, trains and places service dogs with children ages 5 to 18 in the DMV area. These dogs assist with mobility issues, psychiatric conditions, and autism. They also provide basic training, daycare, grooming, and more. Part of the puppies’ training is socializing with humans. Which, the residents loved having a hand and paw in. It was an official puppy takeover. We look forward to their next visit.
