✨ Employee Spotlight ✨
Eilish Lancey is one of our amazing nurses at Spring Hill, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have her on our team. See below as she shares what inspired her to become a nurse.
"I became a nurse because, since I was a child, I’ve always been fascinated by health sciences. I seek to learn everything I possibly can about the human body and mind; knowledge is a true passion of mine. I grew up in a family of addicts who struggled with mental illness, and it was something I struggled to understand, as I was biased by seeing only the negatives. I initially joined this field to challenge myself to be more understanding and compassionate.
I recall sitting in on my first AA and NA meetings and being touched by the camaraderie and transparency displayed by the clients. I met many misunderstood, hurting individuals who truly wanted a better, healthier life. I decided I wanted to amend my prior mentality by being someone who could help them reach that goal. I cannot imagine a more fulfilling and rewarding role.
As a patient myself, I strive to be the nurse I would want taking care of me — nonjudgmental, compassionate, understanding, and conscientious. I’d say my favorite part of my job is seeing people when they first come to treatment — sick and vulnerable — and watching their visible progress as their time here goes on. By the end of their stay, their skin is radiant, glowing even. Their smile is contagious, and light has returned to their eyes. Even seeing improvements in their vital trends gives a picture of improved overall health.
I have met some of the most interesting, intelligent, and kind people here from all walks of life, and I am so proud of every one of them. I’m so lucky to have a career where I continue to learn something new every day, one that gives me purpose, and to work with such an incredible team of people who truly care."
Thank you, Eilish, for everything you do to support our patients here at Spring Hill!
