Member Monday: Walker Eye Care

Some businesses become such a fixture in a community that it's hard to imagine the town without them. Walker Eye Care is one of those.

Dr. William Walker has been caring for eyes in Asheboro for over 40 years. After graduating from Southern College of Optometry in 1984, he stepped into an idle practice on Scarboro Street. He built something lasting, first at Village Marketplace, where the practice quickly grew, and since 2011 at their current home on South Cox Street.

Over four decades, Dr. Walker has become a trusted name in this community, not just for comprehensive eye exams and vision correction, but for the kind of consistent, quality care that keeps families coming back year after year. He's even been recognized as the Courier Tribune Reader's Choice Award winner for favorite optometrist, which says a lot about how this community feels about him.

From pediatric exams to LASIK co-management to diabetic eye care, Walker Eye Care handles it all with a genuine commitment to exceeding expectations.

Myth: Cataracts grow over the surface of your eye.
Fact: Cataracts form inside your eye’s natural lens, causing blurry or cloudy vision as light struggles to pass through clearly. Cataracts are a leading cause of blindness worldwide, but are easily correctable with surgery.

Myth: Cataracts only happen to older adults.
Busted: While age is a risk factor, cataracts can develop earlier in life due to UV exposure, diabetes, smoking, or eye injury. June is Cataract Awareness Month—protect your eyes with regular exams and UV-blocking sunglasses.
