Meet Lindsey Reinhardt, our Assistant Clinical Director. Choosing CooperRiis was deliberate for her, a decision rooted in wanting to be somewhere that sees each person as more than a diagnosis. “Humor and honesty are at the heart of my work,” she says. “I truly love what I do, and I find deep meaning in both caring for others and allowing myself to be cared for in return.” Her own lived experience shapes how she shows up for people, and she believes there’s real power in someone looking at you and saying “same” or “me too.” Outside of work, she’s a singer with a soft spot for country and blues.

Meet Pat Dockendorf, our Education Coordinator.

“The reward for working at CooperRiis is to see individuals move forward in their lives as they learn to accept and cope with mental health challenges,” she says, and that’s exactly the kind of hope she brings to the job every day. Her career has spanned teaching, social work, and hospital education coordination, with degrees from Ohio State, Columbia, and a Master’s in Mental Health from Johns Hopkins. But honestly, the real headline is this: Pat is a competitive swimmer who wins medals at 99 years old, and still finds time for pickleball, bocce, line dancing, and playing percussion in two community bands. She’s also a proud grandmother to six!

Meet Dr. Lucas Elms, our Integrative Psychiatrist.

“I’ve understood that healing is an ongoing process, and that different approaches can be helpful at each stage,” he says. “I believe in offering support tailored to each person’s unique journey.” Outside of work, you’ll usually find him listening to music or podcasts, cycling, running, playing board games, or sneaking in a well-earned midday nap.

Meet John Harrison, our Program Director. He holds a degree in Plant and Soil Sciences from Texas Tech and spent years managing a commercial landscaping nursery before joining CooperRiis, where he brings a warm, steady presence to those he works with and loves watching people grow. Off campus, he’s usually gardening, making his own salsas and hot sauces, raising bees and ducks, or out hiking with his partner, son, and their two dogs.

Meet Donald Meints, our Executive Chef.

Donald leads the kitchens at both the Farm and our Asheville campus, and he came to us with a rich background. He trained at the California Culinary Institute, cooked in San Francisco for years, then spent a year in Italy and Greece studying regional cooking and working on farms.

What drives him is a simple belief, that good food can actually heal. So he builds his menus around fresh, whole ingredients, much of it grown right here in our own gardens by residents in the Community Work and Service Program. It nourishes the body and the mind both.

Leanne Smith and Rachel Elrod from our Asheville Community Program turned a simple idea into action. 💛

On March 31, they led residents in creating and distributing 60 hygiene packs to the Asheville community. This act of care is now becoming a bi-monthly way for residents to connect and give back.

We’re grateful to have a team that values the impact acts of care can have on a community 🌻
