Check out these sweet scenes from last month's service project with Phoenix Landing.

We gathered to make sensory and enrichment toys for the parrots, and got some pretty cute interactions in the process 🦜

Thank you to our community members who joined in to donate their time, making the world a little bit brighter and sweeter for our new feathered friends!

Each month, we join together with another like-minded nonprofit in acts of service for the community. If you'd like to be involved, you can email [email protected] for more information

Because when we come together, something powerful happens.
We reflect, we expand, we rise—together.

It’s a community.
And there’s a place for you here. 🌿

There was such passion and purpose within this group as we came together to deep clean the studio. It was inspiring to gather in service of the spaces where so many of us come to let go, express gratitude, and reconnect with ourselves on every level🌻

By giving back to the studio, these volunteers are helping nurture the growth of our community and creating a space where presence and connection can flourish. They shared a deep appreciation for maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, recognizing that the care we put into our physical space directly influences how supported and comfortable our community feels🌞

We are so grateful for their time, energy, and dedication. Their generosity helps ensure that our studio continues to be a place where everyone feels cared for from the moment they walk through the door🏠

⭐️Presenting the one and only, Diane Saccone, as our July Teacher of the Month ⭐️

Diane Saccone, MS MT (ASACP) ERYT 500 spent the majority of her career in the field of Clinical Laboratory medicine, changing careers after her move with her husband to Western North Carolina in 2005.

Diane built a yoga company serving the community through teaching therapeutic yoga at several farms throughout Madison and Buncombe County while co-founding the therapeutic yoga teacher training program at Asheville Yoga Center.  She also developed the active older adult program at the YMCA of Western North Carolina where she served as the Director of Healthy Aging Initiatives and traveled through the Y of the USA as a subject matter expert on aging, lecturing and teaching evidence based falls prevention programs across the country.

In 2011, Diane established an experimental winter market through the YMCA at Woodfin.  This led to the expansion of a permanent winter market model that was taken over by the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project (ASAP) where it still flourishes today.

In 2020, after being laid off from the Y due to the COVID pandemic, Diane began to help her neighbor Seth Salmon, owner of Wildwood Herbal Farm.
Together, Seth and Diane decided to dedicate all produce production to helping the older adult population gain easy access to freshly harvested nutrient dense seasonal produce leading to a volunteer led workforce and partnerships with Meals on Wheels Asheville Buncombe County and Council on Aging Asheville Buncombe County.

When not at the farm or teaching yoga, Diane enjoys nurturing her gardens, practicing wild crafting and traveling with her husband of 40+ years.

With immense gratitude, we celebrate and thank all of our volunteers, past and present. Your generosity, dedication, and willingness to share your time and energy have helped shape Asheville Community Yoga into the welcoming and vibrant community it is today. Every class supported, every space prepared, every smile offered, and every act of service contribute to the heart of our mission. You are an essential part of our story, and we are deeply grateful for the countless ways you help our community thrive.

We gathered together on a beautiful summer day for a potluck celebration filled with delicious food, laughter, connection, and community. It was a beautiful reminder of what makes Asheville Community Yoga so special. It's the people who show up with open hearts and a spirit of service. We are incredibly thankful for each and every volunteer who has been part of this journey. Your support, kindness, and commitment continue to inspire us, and we look forward to growing together for years to come.
