PIVOTPoint went to Catawba Falls and worked on Belonging. Started the day asking what helps us feel like we belong; what makes it harder: and how we create belonging for each other. None of this was practiced in big gestures; it happens in the small stuff. In the check-ins; the waiting at the creek’s edge; the offered hand to get across. One step at a time.
This group surprised themselves, trudging all the way to Upper Falls. Together. When we got there, cooled off, and reflected, each person named how they see themselves showing up for the group’s dynamic, and what group role they want to play. That's a great experience of belonging. Not simply joining something that already exists, but building it together as we go.
It happens in the details. It happens in the small moments; in expanding awareness; in paying attention to who needs what; moving together and pausing when someone needs a break. That's how this works - in community.
