Boundaries are a popular phrase in our current social landscape but what they are and how to use them sometimes gets lost in the fray.

On one hand you have the "protect your peace" perspective, but sometimes it feels like you might protect yourself right into isolation.

On the other hand there's the "don't just cut everyone off" side of things. But how do you know when you're cutting people off too soon vs protecting yourself from real harm?

Setting clear, effective boundaries is hard and so so worth it! Boundaries can actually be a tool of connection, not cut off.

If you're ready to figure out how to set boundaries that actually work, that serve you without isolating you, then it's time to reach out for support.

Therapists at Resilient Mind Counseling, such as Anna, are ready to support people in North Carolina with setting boundaries and building healthy relationships.

Happy Pride!! We are so thankful to have built a wonderful team of clinicians with lived experience. There is something really powerful about being able to serve the LGBTQIA+ community while also being members of it.

For our therapist spotlight this week we highlight the one and only Grace Parsley, LCMHC (they/them). Grace is passionate about serving the LGBTQIA+ community as a q***r therapist themself. Grace supports and empowers their clients to build full self acceptance and freedom to be!

If you or someone you know could use real, trans and q***r affirming therapy or mental health support in North Carolina, please reach out today!

Learning to say no and set effective boundaries can feel overwhelming. Sometimes it feels like you'll cut yourself off or lose important relationships if you say "no".

That's why it's important to have a therapist who gets it, who can help you say no without over-explaining and without hurting relationships or isolating.

If you're ready to start saying no in a way that strengthens your relationships and your self esteem, we got you!

I've been reflecting a lot on our recent Resilient Mind Counseling retreat.

There's a lot that goes into being a therapist, especially in such challenging times as these. I can't imagine trying to do it alone and I'm profoundly grateful that I don't.

Our admin team, our therapists, our leaders. The whole team is so deeply invested in our values and offering something so needed to our North Carolina community.
Neuroaffirming therapy that refuses a hierarchy of bodyminds.
Fat liberation therapy which never seeks to shrink a client down but only to raise them up.
Racial justice aligned therapy which doesn't hide from the very real impacts race has on the wellbeing of every person.
LGBTQIA+ celebratory therapy which opens it's arms to all clients to come as they are.
Therapy interested in the liberation of all people.

And when we get together we also get to connect more deeply as humans. Learn about cults, laugh at the bears, basque in the glory of animals treated well (thanks Montgomery Sky Farm).

So here are my thoughts and my appreciation, as Director of Ops of this wonderful practice about our recent retreat!

It's important to understand what neuronormativity is and how it impacts our views of how people should be, do, think, feel, and believe.

At Resilient Mind Counseling we work to be neuroaffirming, with an understanding that there is no wrong way to have a body or a mind.

If you're ready for a therapist who affirms you, who doesn't hold you to neuronormative standards, reach out today!
