Growing Strong Communities through Education, Support, and Connection during Pregnancy, Childbirth and into Parenthood.

Homegrown Families provides childbirth education and doula services with the aim to deconstruct the systems of white supremacy and racism within health care, creating opportunities for equitable access to collective community care across under-resourced and historically marginalized communities. We support our clients no matter how parents choose to give birth or parent their children. We give the highest quality information and allow parents the spaciousness to make the decisions that are right for their family. We normalize what parents are going through and provide hands-on, empathetic, compassionate care.

You can Google birth.
You can ask ChatGPT about birth.
You can scroll TikTok for six hours about birth. 😂

But there comes a point where information isn't the same thing as preparation.

You can read about counterpressure, but have you practiced it with your partner?

You can learn about different birth options, but have you talked through what matters to you if things don't go according to plan?

You can save a hundred birth videos, but have you had someone answer your questions in real time without making you feel silly for asking?

And you can join all the pregnancy Facebook groups, but have you actually met the people who might become your village?

That’s the thing about childbirth education. It isn't just about giving you more information. It's about turning information into confidence.

✨It's practicing together.
✨It's asking questions.
✨It's figuring out what support actually looks like.
✨It's learning how to advocate for yourself.
✨It's preparing your partner to be an active part of the experience.
✨And it's sitting in a room with other people who are also thinking, “Wait… are we all a little terrified?” 😂

Because birth doesn't happen on Google.
And you don't have to prepare for it alone.

✨ A GATHERING FOR MOTHERS ✨

We’re opening up our space to Jenn White & Luna Ray for a six week gathering created for mothers who are ready to pause, reflect, reconnect, and make a little more room for themselves.

Sundays from 10am to 12pm
October 11
November 1, 8, 15
December 6, 13

Motherhood changes everything, including how you see yourself and what you need. This gathering offers a chance to step outside the constant doing of motherhood and spend some time exploring who you are, what matters to you, and how you want to move through this season.

Together, they’ll explore matrescence, motherhood in our current culture, self compassion, nervous system support, identity, values, and creating a more aligned experience of motherhood.

Each week weaves together song, ritual, prayer, poetry, creative expression, reflection, and connection.

This is not a parenting course. It’s an invitation to come home to yourself, connect with other mothers, and remember that your experience matters too. 💛

✨ Scholarships are available and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

This is an independently facilitated community offering hosted at Homegrown Families.

✨No Country for Mothers is a documentary investigation into the lies used throughout history to distract and divide American mothers.

The film opens on a simple truth: motherhood in America is impossible by design. 💔Work ends at 6, but school pickup is at 3.
💔Child care costs more than a paycheck.
💔Some moms are back at work two weeks after giving birth.

Moms aren't broken. The system is.

Please join us on October 13th for a FREE screening of No Country for Mothers, presented by Moms First. The event is from 6-9pm and will include snacks, non-alcoholic drinks and discussion.

We'll be hosting with Jenn White, a local coach who works with moms. She helps mothers detangle from the impossible expectations mothers face socially and culturally, and helps them identify who they are as moms, how they want to show up for their children and ways in which they can create more ease, joy and connection in their journey. Together we will provide a safe place for moms to connect, discuss and think about (even small!) ways to take action.
