Bucombe County reports the first hurricane of the season (and El Nino sesason) is Tropical Storm Arthur, and it projected to have a small impact on WNC.

Insight Integrative Medicine is a great functional medicine office on Charlotte street in Asheville we often refer to. Check them out if you need a functional specialist!

I spent the weekend at the NCIMS (North Carolina Integrative Medical Society) annual conference in Asheville. It was filled with robust educational lectures from integrative and functional medicine providers around the country. Best of all, I was able to spend time and reconnect with many beloved Asheville colleagues. I’m excited to bring back some new pearls to my clinical practice!

How much did you health insurance premiums go up this year? As a Direct Primary Care Clinic, we do complimentary meet & greet before patients sign on as monthly members. This year more than prior, people are telling us: they can’t afford health insurance or are not philosophically aligned with insurance so choose to forgo it.

As your Direct Primary Care clinic, we can take care of most of your medical needs, but what if a medical disaster strikes (ICU, ER, cancer)? We often talk about "Healthshares" with patients during our initial meet & greet when they don’t have health insurance. "Healthshares" are often cheaper and focused on prevention rather than treating diseases down stream.

Thi picture here reminds me why I started this clinic 2.5 years ago.

My amazing student and medical assistant Rebecca is handing one of our patients a mug of locally made tea on an Ash table made lovingly by another patient. This patient and I are sitting side by side during an unrushed 45 minute appointment. We revel in just how far he has come with his health.
