When I learned to guard my heart, I was still able to love like Jesus but all the chaos and drama wasn’t present

I’ve chosen to stop fighting life and forcing it to be what I think it should be. When I wait for the grace life feels so much easier and it always still works out

Can we chose to trust God when he doesn’t give us what we want?

Can we choose to trust God when He brings me to the one place I swore I would never live?

After several Tantrums and a few days of grieving I am choosing to trust he sees what I can’t

Ok let’s go, a new adventure

Dr Nadine Burke Harris discusses in her tedtalk how the number one unidentified public health concern in the US is childhood trauma.

I highly recommend her tedtalk.

I am finding this to be true in my own health journey and in the medical systems I’ve worked in

This 4th of July, I took two long flights, and my nervous system noticed every minute of it.

If you’re a Highly Sensitive Person, you know that flying isn’t just transportation. It’s constant noise, crowds, waiting, unpredictability, and sensory overload.

On my first flight, I slipped into an old coping strategy. I reached for alcohol to calm my nervous system. It helped temporarily, but by the time I reached my five-hour layover, I realized I wasn’t truly regulated. I was more irritable, more exhausted, and less connected to myself.

On my second flight, I made a different choice.

Instead of trying to numb my nervous system, I invited Jesus into it.

I prayed. I imagined Him leading the plane, present in every detail, holding me safely through the journey.

His peace didn’t remove the overstimulation around me.

It transformed what was happening within me.

As an HSP, healing hasn’t been about becoming less sensitive. It’s been about discovering healthier ways to care for the nervous system God created.

This Independence Day, I’m celebrating a different kind of freedom.

Not freedom from sensitivity.

Freedom from the old patterns I once depended on.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” — Galatians 5:1

And as I move toward him and embrace his love in challenging moments I feel a new kind of freedom that the world has never brought me.

WHY HSPs
STAY
TOO LONG

Because we see the good in people.

I thought compassion meant staying.

I understood their pain.

Their history.

Their wounds.

So I kept giving.

I saw potential everywhere.

In relationships.

In friendships.

In jobs.

In situations that had already run their course.

The problem wasn't compassion.

The problem was believing compassion required self-sacrifice.

Signs I stayed too long:

✕ Constant exhaustion

✕ Walking on eggshells

✕ Ignoring my intuition

✕ Explaining away red flags

One day I realized:

Understanding someone's pain doesn't obligate me to remain in it.

Boundaries aren't walls.

They're bridges back to yourself.

The lesson wasn't learning to love less.

It was learning to include myself in that love and Discovering My Wings

🦋 You Don't Need to Toughen Up
What if your sensitivity isn't the problem?

For years I believed I was:

Too emotional
Too affected by people
Too overwhelmed
Too sensitive

So I spent years trying to become someone else.

I pushed through exhaustion.

Ignored my intuition.

Stayed in situations that didn't feel right.

Not because I was weak—
because I thought sensitivity was something I needed to fix.

Then I discovered something life-changing:

Being a Highly Sensitive Person isn't a flaw.

It's a genetic trait.

A nervous system that processes life more deeply.

The problem wasn't my sensitivity.

The problem was trying to live like someone I wasn't.

Healing began when I stopped asking:

"How do I become less sensitive?"

And started asking:

"How do I honor the way I'm designed?"

Your sensitivity may be the very thing that helps you:

✨ Notice what others miss
✨ Love deeply
✨ Create meaning
✨ Sense what needs healing

🦋 If you're an HSP, you're not broken.

You're learning how to use your wings.

It’s easy to focus out there, externally to us AND deeper layers of healing are available to us when we go inward and do a deep self inquiry
