When the NP becomes the patient! 😂💧

Holly knows firsthand that taking care of everyone else starts with taking care of yourself, too. Even the caregivers need a little TLC!

We believe in practicing what we preach, making our own wellness a priority, and remembering that healthcare is for ALL of us — including the people providing it 🧡

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and it's a good time to remember how much early detection matters. The symptoms are varied and often subtle — bloating, frequent urination, feeling full quickly, pelvic pain — and they overlap with things many of us feel regularly. That's what makes them easy to dismiss. You know your body. If something is new, persistent, or just doesn't feel right, ask. We're here to help you find the answers you deserve.

Field trip! Dr. Evins and Theadora, one of our amazing medical assistants, traded in their scrubs for aprons a couple of weekends ago for a cooking class at the gorgeous Serenity Knoll Farm, which is just about an hour’s drive north of Asheville in Jonesborough, TN.

There’s something so good for the soul about a road trip through the mountains, especially when it involves food!

One of our favorite things about living in Western North Carolina is that you’re never far from a beautiful adventure.

Thanks to Serenity Knoll Farm for having us!

Dr. Grace Evins found her way to Asheville during medical school and stayed for the mountains, the community, and the kind of care she couldn't imagine practicing anywhere else.

25+ years in practice as an OB/GYN, and she's still just as invested in every patient who walks through the door — from wellness check-ups to navigating perimenopause and beyond. As a certified menopause specialist, she has a special focus on hormone health and HRT, and she's passionate about s*xual health care for every patient, regardless of gender identity. Her approach is always whole-person: nutrition, fitness, and care tailored to wherever you are in life.

At home, she's keeping up with her son Beck and their redheaded dog Mia, tending a garden, and squeezing in a run (and usually a book) whenever she can. 🏃‍♀️📖

Live Well is so fortunate to have her at the helm.

Dr. Liz Garbarino grew up in Nashville but spent her childhood falling for these mountains — hiking and road-tripping through the Carolinas and Virginia long before she ever imagined practicing here.

She's been an OB/GYN in Asheville since 2006, with a practice built around the everyday essentials of women's health: wellness exams, contraceptive care, hormone therapy, and in-office procedures that mean fewer extra appointments for her patients. She's the kind of doctor who makes the routine feel personal.

Outside the office, she's usually outside, period — hiking and camping with her husband, two kids, and two dogs. Come winter, she trades the trails for the slopes (still a work in progress 😅) and leans hard into her other seasonal love: baking.

We're so lucky to have her on our team.

Before she was Holly Mason, FNP, she was in the room with birthing families in Seattle in the late '90s — the start of a career that's now spanned nearly three decades in women's health.

Her path has taken her through 13 years on the Mother-Baby unit at Mission Hospital, over 15 years as a lactation consultant, and a Master's from Duke to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. These days, her focus has shifted toward midlife — she's working toward certification as a menopause practitioner — while still loving the chance to guide younger patients through health, wellness, and reproductive planning.

Outside the office, she's the proud mom of three daughters who are out chasing their own dreams, a lover of Indian food, and always up for singing and dancing around the house with her girls. 🎶

Grateful she's part of this practice.

At our practice, we celebrate your strength, love, and the beautiful journey of motherhood — today and every day. Thank you for letting us be part of your story. Dr. Evins enjoyed a weekend full of her favorite things- jogging, walking her dogs, and gardening.

Period cramps are common—but debilitating pain is not something you should have to just “push through.” If your cramps are so bad they keep you in bed, disrupt your daily life, or don’t respond to typical pain relief, it could be a sign of something more serious—like endometriosis, fibroids, or other reproductive health issues.

You deserve answers. Talk to your doctor and advocate for your body. Pain is your body’s way of saying, “pay attention.”

Endometriosis is more than “just bad cramps.”
It’s a chronic, painful, and often misunderstood condition that affects 1 in 10 women and people assigned female at birth—yet it takes an average of 7 to 10 years to be properly diagnosed.

Why?
Because women’s pain is often dismissed.
Because symptoms mimic other conditions.
Because we’re told to “just tough it out.”

But endo can mean:
• Debilitating pelvic pain
• Painful s*x
• Heavy or irregular periods
• Infertility
• Fatigue
• Digestive issues

Endometriosis is real. It’s exhausting. And it deserves to be taken seriously.

If you’re struggling with pain that no one seems to understand—keep advocating for yourself. You’re not being dramatic. You’re not alone.

Let’s break the silence.
Tag someone who should see this.
