Lester Lee Wilson, 75, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6th, surrounded by family. Born on October 5, 1950, in Louisa, Kentucky, Lester was the son of the late Willie Ray and Imogene Wilson.
Lester was married to the love of his life, Sandra Lee Phillips Wilson, for more than 51 wonderful years before her passing. Their love and devotion to one another was evident to everyone who knew them. He is survived by his loving children, Lisa Cordial and husband David, and Scott Wilson and fiancée Shasta; grandchildren Ashlee Stepp and husband Chris, Alyssa Cordial, and Brayden Wilson; and great-grandchildren Sara, Levi, and Addie. He also leaves behind his two best boys, Char and Smoke, who brought him constant companionship and joy. A proud retiree of Millwright’s Local 1519 in South Point, Ohio, and Special Metals in Burnaugh, Kentucky, Lester was known as a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family. On February 21st of this year, he gave his life to the Lord, a decision that brought him peace and comfort. Lester was known by all as one of the kindest men you could ever meet. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He loved spending time with his son at drag races and racing the ‘57 Chevy Bel Air they proudly built together. He also enjoyed taking his rat rod — a loud and unforgettable ‘47 Studebaker pickup — to car shows. While building it, Lester often joked that he wanted “something ugly and loud,” and those who knew him would agree that it certainly was loud. After the passing of his beloved wife, Lester found comfort and happiness in his wood shop, where he spent countless hours making handmade items, not to sell, but simply to give away and bring happiness to others — a true reflection of the generous and caring man he was. He even made a sign for the shop that proudly read, “My Happy Place.” Visitation will be held Friday, May 8, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again Saturday, May 9, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at PRESTON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with funeral services beginning Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Lester’s lifelong friend and pastor, Gary Sparks, will officiate the service. Lester’s kindness, humor, craftsmanship, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
