🌟 A huge THANK YOU to all the amazing teams and volunteers who made Saturday’s Neon Paddle Battle a glowing success! Thirty-nine teams lit up the courts at the Ashland Tennis Center with energy, excitement and a whole lot of neon fun. This is the second year for the tournament, which continues to grow in popularity.

Best of all, your participation helps make a difference – proceeds from the tournament will support concussion testing for student athletes in our local area.

Last Chance Sports Physicals🏈📣⚽🥎🎺

UK King’s Daughters Orthopedics and Sports Medicine is hosting its final free sports physical clinics of the summer in Ashland and Portsmouth! Physicals are open to student athletes ages 13 to 19 and will be available:

• 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 10, at UK King’s Daughters Pavilion, 2000 Ashland Drive, Russell

• 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, at KDMS Portsmouth Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, 1729 Kinneys Lane, Suite 102

Students must bring the currently mandated sports physical form with them, completed in ink, and signed by a parent/guardian. Forms are available at KingsDaughtersHealth.com/SportsPhysicals.

Physicals will be performed by athletic trainers and orthopedic staff/providers. No appointment is needed. For more information, call 606-327-0036 or 740-351-0980.

Sports physicals are not intended to replace your child’s annual wellness exam, which includes a more thorough evaluation of your child’s overall health. These exams are covered by most insurers at 100%. The sports physical can be performed in conjunction with the annual wellness exam at no extra charge. Let’s glow! The Neon Paddle Battle is back. For the second year, UK King’s Daughters Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is lighting up the pickleball courts at the Ashland Tennis Center for a glow-in-the-dark mixed doubles tournament to benefit concussion testing for local student athletes. Play begins at 8 a.m., Saturday, July 18. Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m.

Ready, set, glow! ✨ Have you registered for the Neon Paddle Battle?

The mixed doubles glow-in-the-dark tournament, hosted by UK King's Daughters Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, will take place Saturday, July 18 at the Ashland Tennis Center, 1300 Oakview Road.

Bring your paddle and get ready to battle under the blacklights where the court glows and the competition heats up! Matches begin at 8 a.m., with check-in starting at 7:30 a.m. Games will be played indoors with mixed doubles teams in a round robin format, and everyone plays teams in their skill group. The top three winning teams advance to the finals. All games are played to 11 (win by 2) and best two out of three games.

👟Levels of play: 3.0 (Beginner); 3.5 (Average); and 4.0+ (Advanced)
🎟️Registration fee: $25 per person (includes a free T-shirt and fun giveaways)

Need orthopedic walk-in care? Please note, UK King’s Daughters Orthopedics & Sports Medicine has adjusted its hours at the Portsmouth Orthopedics Walk-in Clinic through mid-August. It will be closed Mondays and every other Friday.

• ⏰ 8:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday-Thursday and every other Friday - July 3, July 17, July 31, August 7, August 21

The walk-in clinic is designed for new problems only. Care is available for hip, knee or shoulder issues; sports injuries; and other joint problems (excluding back/spine or worker’s compensation).
