Walking during pregnancy is one of the simplest ways to stay active without overthinking it. It supports circulation, helps maintain mobility, and can ease some of the day to day discomfort that comes with a changing body.

It doesn’t have to be long or intense. Even short walks can help you stay connected to your body and keep your energy more consistent throughout the day.

The way your space feels during labor can influence how your body responds. Soft lighting, quiet surroundings, or even simple reminders like written affirmations can help you stay focused and grounded.

Creating a space that feels familiar and supportive allows you to settle in more fully. It doesn’t need to be elaborate. It just needs to feel right to you.

Supporting your body during pregnancy often comes down to simple, consistent habits. Staying hydrated, eating regularly, moving gently, and taking time to rest all help your body adjust to the changes happening day to day.

It doesn’t need to be perfect or structured. Small choices throughout the day can help you feel more steady, more comfortable, and better supported as your pregnancy continues.

Leaning forward and letting your body rest during labor can make a big difference in how things feel. Positions like this take pressure off your back and allow your body to stay active without feeling like you have to hold yourself up.

Having someone close who can stay steady with you matters too. That might look like a hand on your back, quiet encouragement, or just being there while you focus. Support doesn’t have to be complicated. It just needs to be consistent and responsive to what you need in the moment.

Movement during labor gives your body the ability to respond in real time. Shifting positions, leaning forward, standing, or swaying can help create space and reduce pressure as contractions build.

There isn’t one right way to move. What feels helpful can change throughout labor, and that’s expected. When you’re able to follow those natural shifts, your body tends to stay more supported and engaged in the process.

Welcome, May Babies! 🌸✨
May brought three beautiful babies, one home birth and two birth center births. We are honored to have shared in each journey.

One family welcomed their third baby into the world with us—Watching families grow over the years is one of the greatest gifts of this work. We also celebrated two first-time moms, who worked incredibly hard to bring their babies to their arms. They met the challenge with strength, determination, and trust. Their births weren't easy, but the joy of looking into those newborn eyes makes it all worth it!

Congratulations to these families. Welcome to the world, little ones—we are so glad you're here. 💕👣

Drinking enough water during pregnancy sounds simple, but it can make a big difference in how you feel day to day. It supports your energy, helps with digestion, and can even ease things like headaches or general discomfort.
A lot of people find it’s easier to just keep water nearby and take small sips throughout the day instead of trying to drink a lot at once. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just staying consistent can go a long way in helping your body feel more supported.

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to share stories about the history of birth, the midwifery model of care, the ongoing work needed to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes, and the care we provide at our birth center with a group of Wisconsin medical students.

We are grateful to Northwest Wisconsin AHEC, northwestahec,
whose mission is to connect students to careers, professionals to communities, and communities to better health, for creating this opportunity. We look forward to this experience every year and value the conversations, curiosity, and opportunity to share what we do here.

Support during labor doesn’t always look like doing something big. Sometimes it’s just someone being there, staying close, and helping you stay grounded through each contraction. Those steady, quiet moments can make a bigger difference than you might expect.
