💚 The work of healing happens in real time. It’s making different choices, challenging your thoughts, and practicing self compassion when you want to default to the old pattern. Practice the skills even when it’s hard, it’s never in vain! 💚

A favorite is “real change feels awkward, quiet, and slow”.

You’ll never outrun the phase where it’s hard. You won’t be able to skip or avoid the parts where you re-learn safety. It’s painful, it’s intentional, and requires consistency.
It’s taken your entire life to wire the patterns, so give yourself compassion as you unlearn what safety means and rewire safe connection. You’re so worth it.

Our bodies are wired to notice threat well before our brain can process. This is call neuroception. Anxiety can distort this process and causes us to misinterpret threat. Slow acts of listening, tuning into, and feeling without action, can rewire perceived threat signals. Tune into your body and see what it’s telling you.

Throughout the healing process, we want to kick on autopilot and feel healed with a switch. Healing looks like being able to feel pain, experience rejection, feel overwhelmed, and then come back to a baseline of regulation. Healing actually requires us to meet the pain and experience what we are avoiding, and prove to ourselves we can always make it back. It’s messy, failures happen, and we can still be healing. ⛅️

As the year winds down, The Center wants to say Thank you for an incredible first year. Opening a new business is always a leap of faith. Finding a therapist is always a leap of faith. It doesn’t go unnoticed when our clients trust us. As I reflect over the first year, I’m just left with gratitude. Enjoy the rest of your December and celebrate in all the ways that bring you joy.
Thanks again for EVERYTHING.
