The withers are a connection point for several fascial lines, including the superficial dorsal line, lateral line, spiral line and front limb adduction line.

In Chinese medicine terms, the withers are a crucial junction point of several channels including the bladder meridian, governing vessel and small intestine meridian.

In energy healing terms the withers relate to the heart chakra, which is the most impactful energy center if you ask me.

Holding the withers is such a powerful release because of all the channels that run through the area and the points associated. This contact point allows me to connect with her heart more intentionally, ground her energy, relax tension along her top line(and all over), and hit too many acupressure points to name that directly affect her organs.

Everything is beautifully connected and divinely designed in their bodies. This type of intentional work is so powerful because it brings the emotional, mental, energetic, and physical bodies into coherence. You cannot truly heal one aspect with addressing the other.

This withers hold is a great release you can do at home for your horse that has a big impact on their overall heath and wellbeing.
