In honor of Women's Health Month, we wanted to take a moment to talk about the HPV vaccine.

The HPV vaccine can be a critical tool for cancer prevention. If given prior to exposure to HPV, it’s effective for preventing most cases of cervical cancer, and can also prevent other types of cancer and infection, including vaginal and vulvar cancer, ge***al warts, and cancers of the mouth, throat, head, and neck.

Although the HPV vaccine is most effective when given to children ages 9-12, some individuals may still benefit from receiving it as adults. We recommend discussing HPV vaccination with your UHA primary care provider to make the best possible decision for you!
