You probably wouldn't risk borrowing your sister's favorite sweater without asking first, so don't risk your child's safety by ""borrowing"" lower anchors without permission. If you want to install a car seat in the middle seat and your vehicle doesn't have its own set of lower anchors in the center seating position, you cannot borrow without asking. In this case, you'll need to ask two authorities: your vehicle owner's manual and your car seat's manual. If either one says no, borrowing isn't allowed - no exceptions. When both agree that it's allowed, you can install that way, as long as that install is secure.
