🌿 How We Make It (WORK) Monday 🌿
Usually, Mondays are dedicated to what goes into the bottle or the jar, but today, we’re taking a detour.
Every Deeded Oaks product you take home starts inside ours and the only assembly line you’ll find here is whatever family members I recruit to help count drops or fill jars. Our production facility is our kitchen counter, and our warehouse is our home. 🏡
And I think sometimes it’s easy to overlook what a gift that really is.
Our home is where we learn, grow, pray, make memories, care for each other, cook supper, tackle the laundry, and figure life out as we go. And right alongside all of that, we make soap, whip body butter, fill bottles, and stick on labels.
Somewhere along the way, the same place where we care for one another became the place where we make things to care for your families and homes, too. How incredible is that?
Now, the other side of this story is that Deeded Oaks has slowly taken over my house. 😂 … and I’m okay with that.
With the website coming, I knew I needed more inventory so I’ve been busy behind the scenes. What started over a decade ago as a small box of supplies had gradually turned into shelves, then took over the dining room, and now has spilled into the foyer. Nothing says “Welcome” quite like amber bottles and bars of soap lining the entryway.
Yesterday, standing in the middle of it all, I realized I had just made 272 ounces of body butter, 36 tubes of lip balm were setting, four batches of soap were in the works, and 20 bottles of hydrosol were waiting to be labeled.
I looked around and thought…
I clean up messes just to make more messes. 😂
But really, that’s what making it looks like.
The pretty jar and label come at the end, but the mess comes in the middle.
And mixed right into that mess is our regular life.
Supper dishes and soap dishes.
Family and business.
The ordinary and the dreaming.
Our home gets to hold both.
Yes, there are bottles in my foyer. Yes, I clean one mess just in time to make another. Yes, it’s my dream.
I’m grateful for this season.
For the “mess”.
For the growth.
For the now.
For the future.
For you.
For the opportunity to make things in our home that eventually find their way into yours.
🤎
Maybe one day I’ll show you the before, but for now, enjoy the shelves that are getting stocked as we get ready to launch 🚀 💻
