Good morning, everyone,

Recently I've been thinking on different emotions. Oftentimes, we're told to avoid the "bad emotions" or as a song once went, "Don't worry; be happy."

But, most people know that's not actually that easy. As a mental health counselor my goal is a safe place for you, as a person, to bring in all the things, the pain, and "bad emotions" and lay them down for a minute. There are ways to heal, but there is also a deep need for rest.

Unfortunately, the holiday season doesn't always come with great feelings. Many will struggle with depression, anxiety, stress and losses. It can be extremely difficult to care for oneself in these moments.

The goal of therapy is not to fix it but create a space for support, trust and learning new skills. I work with many people, youth as young as 5, teens, and adults as old as 65. With Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic approach and relationship centered care I partner with you to learn and reduce distress.

One of the most common struggles I see is with anxiety, with nearly 20 percent of the US population experiencing an anxiety disorder in a year, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. It can feel like control, but is limiting us in our daily efforts and flexibility.

I'm excited to announce that I'm working with Headway for telehealth options for the state of Idaho. If you're struggling with anxiety and want to work on better coping I offer CBT for anxiety.

It's a tragedy to see what unfolded yesterday. Shock, pain, anger, despair, the reactions are often overwhelming. There's no one right way to feel.

If you find yourself in need please reach out to local resources. Not just myself, but there are multiple counseling agencies in the area, from Cultivation Counseling, Ellie Counseling, Coeur d Mind, and more.

Take care of yourself, and those around you. Turn off the news, and give yourself time to feel and be mindful. Please know if you need help there is help.
