If you grew up watching Nebraska football in the 90s, you understand why some of us still wake up every Saturday expecting a 40-point win. 😂🌽❤️🏈

There was just something about it.

Saturday meant Nebraska football. Everybody was watching. Everybody had an opinion. And when the Huskers took the field, you pretty much expected them to win. Maybe that’s why every year I convince myself THIS is the year. Hope springs eternal in Nebraska. 😂

Thirty years later, life looks a whole lot different. I’m not the kid watching those 90s teams anymore. I’ve got kids of my own, a business to run, approximately 47 places to be at any given time…and I’m still walking out the door in Husker red believing we’re about to dominate. 💪🏼

Some things you just don’t outgrow.
But here’s something I’m curious about.
Do you feel like YOU have the same energy you had back then?

Not “I’m 20 years older, obviously I get tired.”

I mean do you still feel like you? Do you wake up with energy? Feel good in your clothes? Have enough left in the tank at the end of the day to actually enjoy your life?

Or somewhere along the way did tired, puffy, uncomfortable, gaining weight easier and needing more recovery start getting filed under:

“Well…I guess this is just what happens in your 40s.”
Because THAT is the part I don’t think we have to accept as normal.

Getting older? Absolutely.
But feeling exhausted, puffy, uncomfortable in your own skin and like your best energy is somewhere back in the 90s?

Nope. I’m leaving the shoulder pads and over plucked eyebrows there. My energy is coming with me. 😂

Some things get better with age. I fully intend my health to be one of them. Go Big Red. ❤️🌽

“In April 2024, I was on blood pressure medication after being diagnosed with postpartum preeclampsia. It was a season that made me realize I wanted to start taking my health seriously, and that’s when I decided to join Radiant Mom Routine.

Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Today, my health looks very different than it did then. I have so much more energy, my confidence has grown in ways I never imagined, and for the first time in a long time, I truly love the person I see in the mirror. I love my body…not because it’s perfect, but because of everything it has carried me through and what it’s capable of.

This journey was never about chasing a number on the scale. It was about taking my health back, feeling strong, and becoming the best version of myself.

If you’re wondering whether it’s worth taking that first step, this is your reminder that one decision can completely change your life. I’m so grateful I chose me.” 🫶🏻 -Shayla

So many moms have thousands of pictures of their kids on their phone …and almost none of themselves. Because they were always the one holding the camera.

That’s not modesty. That’s a generation of moms who quietly decided they didn’t belong in the record of their own family’s life. Twenty years from now, kids won’t remember the angle. They’ll remember whether Mom was in the frame.

Here’s the part most moms don’t know: the thing keeping her behind the camera usually isn’t a willpower problem. It’s blood sugar and hormones running the show …and that’s fixable.

DM “PHOTOS” and I’ll send you the link to my free masterclass.

If you’ve caught yourself saying “they were better in the 90s” about the Huskers… there’s a real chance you’ve also caught yourself saying “my body just doesn’t work the way it used to” about, well, you.

And here’s the thing - you’re not wrong on either count. Something actually changed.

The 90s Huskers ran a system. Every piece worked together, and the results showed up on the scoreboard. Your body in your 20s and 30s ran a system too - one where estrogen was doing you a favor you probably never noticed, keeping insulin sensitive and metabolism cooperative without you lifting a finger.

Perimenopause doesn’t mean the system broke. It means the system changed -and nobody handed you the new playbook.

→ Estrogen dips
→ Insulin resistance creeps in
→ Inflammation goes up
→ The scale moves even though nothing about your plate did

That’s not a willpower problem. That’s biology asking for a different game plan.

Game day’s this weekend - wear the red, yell at the TV, and know that your body’s “off season” isn’t permanent either. It just needs new plays.

Go Big Red. ❤️❤️

Your overnight oats and yogurt with granola might be part of the reason the weight won’t move.

I know… the internet crowned them the queens of healthy breakfasts. 👑

They’re “clean.”
They’re full of fiber.
They’re easy.
They’re supposedly exactly what women should be eating.

And yet, every week women tell me:

“Carissa, I eat so healthy. Why can’t I lose weight?”

Because healthy and fat-loss friendly are not always the same thing.

The problem isn’t oatmeal.

The problem is that women have been taught to build meals around foods labeled “healthy” without ever being taught what those foods are actually doing inside their bodies.

Fruit has fiber.
Granola is healthy.
Honey doesn’t count because it’s natural.
A smoothie is a great breakfast.
Sourdough is better.
🙄🙄

Then 10:00 rolls around and you’re hungry.

By afternoon, you’re fighting cravings and reaching for snacks.

And eventually you start wondering why your body seems to be working against you when you’re doing everything “right.”

That’s not a willpower problem. That’s biology.

You can eat organic, gluten-free, homemade, low-fat, heart-healthy food all day long and still keep yourself stuck.

Because most women don’t need another list of foods they’re “allowed” to eat.

They need to understand how to stabilize blood sugar.
How to build meals around the right proteins.
Why meal timing matters.
Why some foods leave them satisfied and others have them digging through the pantry two hours later.
And how insulin and other fat-storing hormones influence whether their body holds on or lets go.

Most weight-loss programs teach you WHAT to eat.

I teach women WHY their body is responding the way it is ….and what to do differently.

And tomorrow night, I’m actually opening up a live Zoom at 7:00 PM CST to talk about exactly this.

If you’re a woman who keeps thinking, “I eat pretty darn healthy. I shouldn’t still be struggling with this,” come join me.

I’ll show you what may be missing…and why trying harder at the same “healthy” things probably isn’t the answer.

❤️💙DM me “ZOOM” and I’ll send you the link for tomorrow night.

Perimenopause really does feel like one giant word problem nobody warned us we’d have to solve. 😂

Protein. Fiber. Steps. Strength training. Sleep. Supplements. Hormones. And somehow we’re supposed to do all of it while raising kids, working, and living an actual life.

Good news: it does NOT have to be this complicated. There’s a much simpler way to understand what your body needs after 40 and actually make it work in real life.

If you’re ready to stop guessing, link is in my bio. 🤍

I’m writing this from a hotel room in Omaha. I’m out here for a few days with my business coach …this business keeps growing exponentially, and I’m not about to wing it.

But as we sat and talked tonight, the conversation kept circling back to the same place: the women I work with.

The same things kept coming to the top. They can’t believe they got to this place. Nothing feels like it’s working anymore. And somewhere in taking care of everyone else, they lost the time to even look after themselves.

Somehow, these women got caught in a cycle of motherhood, work, games, laundry, meals… On repeat. And they don’t regret any of it, but they’re just a little disappointed that somehow they don’t feel very good in their own skin anymore. Actually, they’re kind of devastated that it got to this point.

If that’s you right now …if you’re giving everything to everybody in your house and quietly wondering how long you’re going to stay stuck like this … I see you.

But I gotta ask…How long are you going to keep searching for the thing you’ll “start on Monday”?

At what point does it stop being a someday plan and start being an actual answer?

Here’s the truth: you’ve got two choices.

→ Keep circling the same hamster wheel. I’d bet real money you’re still Googling the same thing come January.

→ Or get a jumpstart now, while everyone else waits for busy to calm down so they can “buckle down.”

I’ve got a couple ways to make that happen this month:

1️⃣ Book a 1:1 call with me, we’ll talk through your specific situation and what’s actually keeping you stuck.
2️⃣ Join my live Discovery Call, a few spots open, no pressure, just real talk about how to get off this wheel for good.

I know you’re good at waiting for Monday ….you’ve had plenty of practice. How’s that working out so far? If it hasn’t panned out. Let’s talk!

Lincoln- 20 years today. And nine months before that, I found out I was failing at the one thing I thought I knew how to do without trying …take care of my own body.

I remember sitting through the gestational diabetes test, expecting it to be a formality with you being my first born. I thought I was healthy, I was doing everything I’d been told counted as healthy. I failed it in the most miserable way possible, I didn’t even make it to the one-hour marker (after 3). The advice was simple and blunt: get my diet under control, or go on diabetic medication. I said no to the meds, and I dove headfirst into what needed to change in the way I ate.

That was the beginning of realizing food controlled how I felt …not just how I looked, and that what America calls “healthy” simply wasn’t working for me.

I hear that same realization from women every single day now.

That realization is the reason I know what I know now. I started learning how insulin and hormones actually run the show. I rebuilt the way I eat, the way I move, the way I think about my own health - not around a scale, but around actually understanding my own biology for the first time in my life.

Twenty years later, I’m still appalled that women aren’t being taught the difference. That appointment has turned into a calling. I never planned to build a business around it. But here we are.

Happy 20th birthday, Lincoln. You’ve always been the reason I got serious about this. I love you more than this post could ever say❤️

I’m 42. Metabolically, I’m 18. The right type of scale will tell you that.

And honestly, the “secrets” are pretty boring. I just do the basics consistently.

My food is dialed in. I eat protein, though probably not the way you’re picturing. Everyone says “increase your protein” right now, and protein does matter, but stacking it on without paying attention to digestion, meal timing, and what your body actually needs won’t get you there on its own. More isn’t automatically better.

My workouts are daily, on purpose, and to the point….because my lymphatic system needs it. Unlike your cardiovascular system, lymph doesn’t have a central pump. It relies on muscle contraction, movement, and breathing to circulate. No movement, no flow.

My gut gets daily attention too, and not in the “take a probiotic and call it done” way. Strain matters. Timing matters. Supporting your microbiome is more nuanced than one supplement can fix.

I get outside every chance I get. I’m in Nebraska, so that window is short, but sunlight does real work in the body: circadian rhythm, hormone signaling, vitamin D. I don’t waste the days I get and I sure as the day don’t use sunscreen.

None of this is flashy. None of it’s a shortcut. Eat well, move daily, support your gut, get outside when you can. Do that on repeat and the metabolic age thing isn’t a fluke. It’s just what your body does when you actually take care of it.

But if you’re on the wrong plan, you’ll know. You’ll be the woman who’s started over every Monday for the last year, maybe longer, still waiting for something to finally stick.
